You could add all the shooting in the world and it’s not changing our style of play. Part is JBB - it’s just not who he is. But the bigger part is our core 4 can’t play that way. Mitchell & Garland are the drivers of this team. Both are dribble first scoring guards. But even if they weren’t, you throw Mobley and Allen on top of that and there’s just no way to play a King’s style. And the 4 guys we’ve decided are the remainder of our rotation - Okoro, LeVert, Rubio, and Stevens are entirely incapable of that style of play. Wade, Cedi, Green, and even Neto could play that style, but they have all been relegated to the bench. By choice, necessity, and design, we are going ground and pound and we could bring in Klay Thompson to play the 3 and it wouldn’t significantly change the way we play.

We probably should bring Klay Thompson in at the 3

I went to NBA season stats to see if any Cavs were there. Yup. Two of our finest.

FIELD GOAL PERCENTAGE

1.Nic ClaxtonBKN70.8
2.Mason PlumleeLAC68.0
3.Rudy GobertMIN67.0
4.Jarrett AllenCLE65.1
5.Jakob PoeltlTOR63.8

THREE POINTERS MADE

I'm a bit torqued off that Tatum's getting rave reviews and Donovan only gets accolades from Cavs fans. He's definitely underrated.

Speaking of underrated, Darius is 7th in assists per game at 7.9. I keep feeling that if he and the team get into an offensive groove, he can average over 10. We're not there yet.

Tatum's the best player on a Finals team and has played in a bigger market for one of the NBA's storied franchises.

Like, I definitely think Donovan Mitchell is a bit underrated... but I get it.

I don't expect him to stay underrated for long. His first postseason in wine and gold would be a great start :)

Right. I definitely expect Boston and New England to love him, but the whole media seems to overrate him--slightly. He's below the Jokic, Giannis, Embiid tier, just because he's not as good defensively or in rebounding.

I would put him above Doncic, slightly, because of his better defense. Curry would be right there in this group, if he were healthy. Then Durant would be here, if he were healthy. Lilliard and Donovan would be right under this group.

If Allen is out for a few weeks I would honestly sign Whiteside, we cant go with Lopez he's unplayable

Tough break last night as the Sixers beat the Blazers in Portland by one point on a buzzer beater by Embiid, who hit a 17-foot fallaway. The Blazers are in 13th place in the West and the Sixers had to come from 21 points behind to win.

The good news is that if the Sixers almost lost to the 13th place team they could easily lose to Golden State, Phoenix, Denver, and Milwaukee on the road. They also have home games against Boston, Toronto, and Miami. It doesn't look good for the Cavs catching them but it's still possible.

The tough part is they have to beat the Sixers on Wednesday in Cleveland after playing in Charlotte the night before while the Sixers have Monday and Tuesday off. That's looking like a schedule loss unless the Cavs can play their best game of the season or close to it.

Edit: If Allen is out then forget about catching Philly - we'll be lucky to hold off New York.

Jalen Brunson injured his foot and had to leave the Knicks game on Thursday. He is out for today's game against the Clippers. If he misses tomorrow against the Lakers and Tuesday in Portland it could be a very big break for the Cavs.

Brunson is averaging just under 24 points per game along with 6 assists. He averaged 28.7 points in January and 27.4 in February and March. In six games since the break he's hitting 44% on 3's. If he's out for any significant length of time it's going to hurt. This is a bad time for him to get hurt with the Knicks on a west coast trip.

Knicks lose to Clippers by 9, play the Lakers tomorrow. Lakers have won three straight and seven of nine.

Brunson out is killing them and post all star game regression for Randle. Would love to have Hartenstein back on cavs.

More i think of it more I dont get why we wouldnt sign Whiteside, yes he is stupid but he is by far the best center available and he played with Spida last season. 15 mins a night from an active big like him would be handy imo.

Hopefully Mark Williams (who didn't play tonight vs Utah) is still out for our game.
