2022 American League Central Division Champions

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
4 days rest is normal, so my guess is Quantrill unless he gets lit up on Tuesday.
Only about half of a pitcher’s starts typically come on 4-days rest, the other half is more. That’s why I specified.

It seems to be the expectation that they’ll use Civale in Game 4 with Quantrill going game 5. Obviously, that depends on if either game is necessary.

Guardos should be able to take care of business in 3 games, and then prep their rotation for the ALCS.

That easy huh? 3 games we got this?

In related news, Yankees are going with Cole/Cortes/Severino in that order. I'd probably slightly rather face Cole than Cortes because we still can't figure out how to do anything against lefties and we know Naylor is going to be in the lineup.

I had a thought about timing pitchers...

If games are coin flips, you have 25% chance of winning in 2 games, and 25% chance of winning in 3 games, which means that given that you won you have roughly 50% chance of winning in 2 games.

So given that you have a coin flip regarding that #3 guy not even being needed, I think it actually makes sense to slot your #1 pitcher as your #3 in the WC series, resting them up for the next series if you aren't going to pitch them on short rest anyway. And unless you're going to want to pitch your #1 three times in the ALCS then it doesn't matter that your #1 has his first game on Saturday in the ALDS if he had to pitch in Game 3 of the Wild Card round.

IDK guys, I would probably have pitched Bieber in Game 3 of the Wild Card series assuming we go with a 4 man rotation thereafter.

Think the consensus is pretty much rolling with:

Quantrill
Bieber
McKenzie
Civale
Quantrill

A couple of factors obviously come into play. If we wind up in game 5 and part of that was a short outing from Shane in game 2, he might actually start the decider. Bieber is probably an option for game 5 in some capacity no matter what and I do not see Plesac starting at all unless things have gone really really sour.

No Plesac? Go pound sand. Oh wait.

If there is a need for a Game 5: I think it would be a All Hands On Deck game. With everybody available. I doubt if anybody would go more than 2 innings.
