2022 American League Central Division Champions

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I imagine it has to be him or Vargas

Vargas didn't even get into a game during reg season, doubt he will be called on first start in NY of all places (3 out of 5 games)

There were going to be a few moves anyways with Civale needing to be added (McCarty off was my guess) and issue with do they go 12 pit/14 pos or 13 pitch/13 pos? McCarty is length with Plesac over Pilk. Morris sb the shorter power guy for Sandlin over Vargas. With going Tues/Thurs/Sat/Sun/Mon - they will probably stick with 12 pitchers (just like Fri/Sat/Sun WC) as guys can rest Wed and Fri.

So either Morris or McCarty sticks for some reason when Civale is added (if Sandlin is off).

So we now may have parameters for a McStixx contract extension.

The $75MM guarantee for Strider shatters any prior precedent for pitchers with such limited experience. Prior to this deal, the five-year, $35MM contract Madison Bumgarner signed with the Giants more than a decade ago stood as the record extension for a pitcher with between one and two years of service time. (Strider is currently at 1.003 years.) This new contract not only finally topples that dated mark (in decisive fashion), it also surpasses the established extension records for pitchers with two to three years of service time (Blake Snell’s five-year, $50MM deal) and even with three to four years of service (Sandy Alcantara’s five-year, $56MM deal).

Because extensions, more so than free-agent contracts, draw heavily from recent comparables, the Strider deal in many ways paves the way for new precedent to be established in multiple service classes. That’s not to say every pitcher with between one and four years of service time will now require $75MM+ to sign an extension, of course; Strider’s case as a Rookie of the Year frontrunner and budding ace is far from the norm.

Wow, what a pitcher, those #s are incredible. Seems like the Gs drafted him in the 35th round in 2017 but he chose to sign with Clemson instead. Just gonna assume he was a Reds fan growing up. Had another chance in 2020 but they took Milan Tolentino instead. All that being said, that contract is a little brazen, not sure the Gs can match something like that.

Castrovince gives advantage to G's.

There is a reason they already declared Sandlin "out for the rest of the season".

So we should be guessing guys who are not on the 40 as they needed that reason to add someone off 40.

So not necessarily Morris or Vargas or Pilk, Gaddis, Curry (already on 40) and Gose had TJS (so no miraculous shoulder healing by tomorrow) and needing room to come back onto 40 man.

Off 40 - Battenfield, Miko, Misiaszek, Cantillo, Hankins (doubt this one) and Herrin/Enright. But, do you add a lefty reliever in (Misias, Herrin, Cantillo) to NYY which are all righties except for Rizzo (lefty) and Cabrera who is switch but hits better righty vs LHP from average but a bit more power as lefty due to their HR porch. But, still hard to go an extra Loogy (in addition to Hentges) with just #2 Rizzo and #6 Cabrera as their potential LOOGY role outs. Therefore, McCarty may also be off as I assumed with Civale anyways.

At least Morris has seen MLB action to take over Sandlin spot (in addition to Civale coming on). But, if they do go 13 pitchers from 12 (now or for ALCS), it could be McCarty and Sandlin off with Morris, Civale and Battenfield or Miko on. (Morris can also be injured or at season pitch limit - but bullpen role you can watch those innings and limit them to 1-2 per night).

Is this at least some logical thinking or did I misinterpret your implication in this designation from above?

Oh Sh.... My brain was fried and didn't link the two .... There goes the series (even though the 12th pitcher only sees actions when we are behind). Guess we are on the road so Tito need someone to play cards with him before game time.

Since Sandlin is "out for the season" am I reading it right that we could add someone who hasn't been on the 40-man roster, and then add them to the ALDS active roster?
