Catchers have been using them for years.. you get the inside of the catchers glove pad below your thumb smacked 2, 3, 6 hundred times a day (depending on how many guys are throwing),you have to put something inside to take away the pounding.. if not.. your hand is either a callous or a big bruise..

...that's unless your talking about a thumb donut to hold the bat.. or the newer thing that goes around just above your wrist and cover the up the back of your hand up to and inclusive of your first knuckle.. Those are newer..

Do you have an image of what you're referring to?

It’s the pro hitter thumb guard. I legit do not think I’ve ever seen any of our guys ever use it until this year, and I’ve only seen it because Kwan gives it up when he runs bases.

Didn’t see it mentioned, yet Pilk got optioned down to AAA today. Naylor still on Clippers roster as rehab but not in lineup as he sb in Cleveland getting ready.
Isn't today the last day of his 10 day rehab? For some reason I think he started it on 4/4.

The hot start helps but fuck man those two twitter posts have me cheesing so hard. Cleveland is keeping a star for most likely his whole career and in his prime. These fuckers talk shit on the Dolans but what star stayed forever with the Jacobs? We have a consistent MVP candidate for his career and one of the best front offices in all sports. Sorry for all the cursing but GOT DAMN I'M FUCKING HYPE.

It's rare in this sport for any player to want to stick with a team and sign a team friendly contract with free agency looming so close.

There's a lot of plus and minus between the ownership of Jacobs v Dolan.

One thing not being spoken: how many love this extension today, but will bitch about it when the most likely decline in production happens with JRam around his age 32 to 34 season. Then it will be Dolan's Great Blunder.

I know this is a joke, but if the G's keep winning would love for you to keep it up.

Maybe get a sexy poster... Strip some clothing off of it

Are you suggesting you want to see PIP naked?

JRam has intimated for years that he wanted to stay. People didn’t believe him because no one wants to stay and lose out on the open market. Outside of Mike Trout maybe. But he was speaking truth. And I for one won’t blame Dolan if and when he declines in production.

So he just came out of camp forgetting how to hit a baseball.
Players will have ups and downs in any given season, and as I stated before my disappointment has nothing to do with the start to his season statistically speaking.

Does the thumb guard provide any assistance to the swing of the hitter? Maybe help keep your hands in a better position on the bat? Curious if it is something Valaika advocates.

Too bad. I wanted to see Pilk pitch before being sent down. I'll try to catch a Clippers game that he's starting at some point.

I understand your point but perhaps it is better for Pilk to get regular in-game work/ reps...
That way if/ when the time comes he is better able to contribute & help the MLB club...
