2022 Season Series #30 | Guardians @ White Sox | July 22-24, 2022 (Start of second half)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Great start but a disappointing finish to the series. We end up with a split. Not bad, but we needed to win that third game after coming from behind to take the lead.

AFAIC, Rosario can be our shortstop for the next five years.

Hey, a Guardian left fielder finally hit a home run in Game 93. What are the odds we get another one in the last 69 games? 50-50?

With no Luis Robert or Vaughn I thought Bieber had a chance to pitch a great game but 12 days off wreaked havoc with his command. He simply was not sharp and when you're throwing a 91 mph fastball you need to be sharp.

Cease was throwing 97 with a wicked slider. No comparison between the starters.

Nice to see Franmil go yard. Maybe that will get him going.

Naylor chases way too many bad pitches but somehow got three hits.

It was worth watching the game just to see Kwan hit one out.

But, I have to put all the blame for this loss on Tito. He should have known Bieber was going to give up 3 home runs, and any good manager would have pulled him before that happened. :conf (11):
No one implies that Francona should be clairvoyant. Absolutely no one. But he makes up the lineups. The lineup today said “we forfeit”. True that Reyes homered. Do you think he should bat cleanup at this point? Tito did today.

Tito apologists won’t ever admit that he makes numerous head-scratching decisions. I don’t get it.

Do you think Jose should never get a day off even if he's dinged up? If not Franmill to replace his bat then who should it have been?

People act as though Tito has a full deck on this roster when he's in reality playing with about 2/3 of a deck, but people want a royal flush on every hand dealt.

Becoming a tired old saying

Let's get the Boston series started and forget about these last 2. The Redsox are lifeless.

So what’s your intelligent defense of last nights debacle? No other options in the pen besides rolling Shaw a second inning?

Finally an admission that Tito isn’t playing with a full deck…

I do tend to agree that Tito has some of the weaker chess pieces amongst the contenders... like even Luplow or Lonnie's corpse would be a good pinch hitter. Or even Guyer, in comparison to what we have now.

Call, Maile, Clement, Miller, that's some bottom of the barrel scrap.

I don't get why he started Clement two of the four games when we just had five days off. However, coming into today's game Clement was hitting .320 in July (8-for-25).

By having Clement play 3rd and Jose DH Tito was essentially replacing Franmil's bat with Clement's, which might not be a bad idea.

As for having Shaw pitch two innings, Gose is hurt and Tito didn't want to use Hentges in a high leverage situation against a team that kills lefties. He used Morgan, Stephan, and Clase in the first game of the doubleheader. I don't know why he didn't have DLS pitch that second inning, except that Shaw only threw 10 pitches in the 7th.

That's all I'm trying to say. It's not like there's a bunch of great options to choose from, even the relievers are hit and miss... and for that matter the starters are too.

And even though Shaw is a favorite whipping boy his velocity is as good as I've ever seen it lately, mid '90's and good movement on his cutter. He has a rubber arm compared to some of the others, and he's the most experienced. I think he gets bashed more than his performance merits.

People like to be back seat micro-managers in baseball even worse than they are with the Cavs. It's easy from the cheap seats.

So let’s look at Shaw’s fantasy relevant stats as a measure of his performance. Just what in Shaw’s performance this season merits him being used in high leverage situations? I’ll wait.

I'm still pissed Tito brought him back for the 2nd time. And even if that's a good move, have a one batter on base leash with him so the next guy doesn't inherit a fucking shit storm.

There's only one guy in the pen I trust coming in and getting outs with the bases loaded.

at this point I have more trust in LTA and Battenfield in the bullpen than Shaw and Castro
