2022 Season | Series #49 | Rays @ Guardians | Sep. 27-29, 2022

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I know the 90's team's were fun but damn I love this team
We all have our opinions, but for me the 90's teams were much more enjoyable to watch offensively while these recent teams have a big edge in the pitching department.

Anybody remember Don "Full-Pack" Stanhouse?
I had to look him up and read where he got his nickname; don’t recall him at all, but surely reminiscent of Stephan’s performance tonight

Its either that our lineup sucks, or Tampa pitching is great. Take your pick.

You don't have to choose one because all 4 are true. Both teams have excellent pitching and weak offenses.

Edited to say that I am enjoying this teams success as much as the next person, but I still don't believe that this offense will put up enough runs in the postseason. I want to be wrong. God please let me be wrong.

Similar surely, but I'm telling you Brennan has some untapped power and as he settles in it will start to show.

I wouldn't base an opinion on Stephan's ability to setup based on one performance. He's a backend BP arm for sure. He was just struggling to control his split change tonight.

Stephan has to have that pitch otherwise, he is very ineffective right now...

Jesus Coach, he's had it all season long which is why he's sporting a 2.79 ERA and a 2.10 FIP. You're overreacting. He's been used in high leverage situations plenty of times over the course of this season and has performed exceptionally.

Splitter is a notoriously easy pitch to lose a feel for, and with the cold and wet weather that’s exactly what it looks like is happening with Stephan right now.

That’ll get sorted out.

OK, let's move along. Nothing to see here. Same old thing all season. Guardians helpless against the lefty starter and then get to the bullpen late for a win in their last at-bat. Only difference is Stephan finished instead of Clase and he made it more dramatic but otherwise it's just another typical Guardian win. So move along, folks, nothing to see here.

I've never liked him all season to be sincere in a high leverage role...

To me, he is average without that split... His fastball is nice and all, but the numbers don't support it being good by itself. If what you are saying is he going to be effective when/if the season gets colder/into November?

Stephan scares me more than Karinchak does nowadays. Stephan has fantastic stuff but he lacks command and consistency. I swear it seems like about half the time he doesn't know where his pitch is going. Then he'll turn around and paint corners for a couple of batters. I think he'll be next level if he ever gets some things figured out. Either that or if he loses what command he does have he'd wash right out of the league. I assume it will be the former and not the latter.

You take away any relievers best pitch and they'll be average. Not sure how that is an indictment on Stephan.

Also, in high leverage situations I am not sure what you are wanting. Kid has 1.02 FIP and 13:2.5 K to BB ratio in high leverage situations.

I guess it's more of the, he is doing well, but I am not expecting him to keep doing it since part of me feels like he cannot sustain it... If he proves me wrong, I can live with that...
