He was once he returned from injury. He wasn't a solid 4/5 last year though. And they clearly don't anticipate a bounceback.

Again, who is included in all this "pitching depth"? After Cantillo it gets pretty fuckin thin unless Espino is going to be ready. You believe that to be the case? I sure as hell don't. Don't mistake my discussion of this topic as panic because I'm not. I believe wholeheartedly that there is much more to happen this offseason that will make this move much more understandable. Not gonna lie, when it comes to the stats like this and numbers, playing hours upon hours of something like OOTP running small market teams, you never keep the guys who are projected to produce at a value less than the pay. (Ps. Don't hate me Mad lol)
Cleveland felt his 6-7 million projection wasn't worth what they felt his production would be... They also have enough pitching depth as well to merit moving on from him as well...
Sorry. Not an organization that is going to have a below average pitcher making 6M+ sitting in Columbus waiting for an injury call up.Fans don't want a player with proven effectiveness to be cut because of "money"
To be clear, this doesn’t necessarily mean we had to cut 6.6M from our current or anticipated budget.
Lol dude just big timed a message boardMaybe not here, but at a more popular (and still very good) place like CTC it's clearly majority opinion.
Who the hell are we going to spend our money on? Shohei?
If they decided to allocate that money elsewhere, well, I can't blame them. Quantrill fell off a cliff last year, and they clearly couldn't fix him. They wasted 7m last year on Zunino, maybe they felt they couldn't do that 2 years in a row.Quantrill was going to make an average MLB salary. But we could probably resign Zach Plesac for far less.
Oh they thought through the situation- and DFAing a guy like Cal,.who had a bad year, for what they paid Zunino last year looks like a cheap move. And it is- Cal doesn't look unrepairable. But the Gs can't afford a 7m lottery ticket, and if Cal continues to scuffle, they end up in the same boat next November of DFA him or not. When Ballin on A Budget you got to make some tough moves. Oh well. But for some reason, folks think it makes more sense to jump through hoops than to just admit the truth and live with it. Oh well. On to the next move.Because people in general (in the social media world) like to have a reason to bitch and they don't really think through the situation. They just want to holler DoLanZ iS ChEaP.
Don't you dare tease me like this. But seeing as he is owed 18.7m in future salary, I think they are stuck with him. I think a limited role, where his bat could recover a little maybe and his awesome defense shine through, could get one of the higher salaried teams to bite.Maybe Myles Straw will get DFA'd too.
He's going to make @ $5 million this season as the 4th OF.
You could find a 4th OF that makes less than that.

It just means that we do have an ultimate ceiling to a budget and that Antonetti may believe he can better allocate that 6.6M into whatever that total number is
