2023-24 Playoff Series #1 | Game #4 | Cavs @ Magic | April 27, 2024

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
As time goes by, I’m leaning towards this might be over. Cavs look like they are ready for this season to be over with.

1-JBB comments about them going on a huge run...why don't you call a TO after several points instead of waiting for 10+ run?
2-why is the defense not getting up on outside shooters??
3-Why did they stop going inside???
4 -Why are you not using your other bench players early on????

The timeout could have been called after they gave up a cherry picking dunk to start the 2nd half. After the 3, no doubt call it. Instead he waited 3-4 more possessions.

He is the worse coach. Had no business coming back this year.

That was a painful, awful second half effort to watch.

What's it going to take to try Morris instead of Niang when the game counts?

Maybe the embarrassment of this game will lead to a better performance in game 5.
Just like the embarrassment of last year’s playoffs was to have us ready for this year’s playoffs? Made up narratives. Opponent wants it more and we play terrible basketball.

Altman needs to go for holding onto JBB this long.

Mitchell was scoreless in the second half. The knee must be bothering him - that's the only possible explanation.

It's clear the Cavs are better without Garland. They went 18-2 in Jan/Feb when he and Mobley were out at the same time. Mitchell (when healthy) is a fantastic point guard. He's playing out of position because Garland can only play the point. The Garland/Mitchell pairing just doesn't work.

This is a league dominated by big men with skills and the Cavs have zero of those.

So we need to trade Mitchell since we only have one year left on his contract, and in my opinion, the knee problems factor into the decision to trade him as well.

But we also need to trade Garland due to his massive shortcomings.

Is there any way both of these guys are dealt this summer? I think not.

We need more size and strength in the perimeter.

I do still think Mobley has the potential to be a top 2 player on a championship team.

I don't care anymore.
Win or lose, I just want to see TT and MM set a couple of guys on their asses.
And then I want to see a couple of starters follow suit.

And what I Don't want to see is another craven surrender.

2) Crazy how locked-in Donovan Mitchell and the Cavs looked to begin this game. Mitchell had 18 of the Cavs' 60 first-half points, Jarrett Allen had 16. Then the wheels fell off. Check that. The wheels, rims, bumper... everything fell off.

Cleveland went from locked-in to locked-up. They scored 10 points in the third quarter and 29 for the entire second half. 10 AND 29!!! There are so many absurd second-half numbers but my favorite might be Franz Wagner (23) scoring more than all five Cavs starters (16). Mitchell had zero.

Cavs are still -190 faves to win this series but you wouldn’t know it from watching the last two games in Orlando. They haven’t even hit a hundred points yet. J.B. Bickerstaff is 0-7 on the road as a head coach in the playoffs.

“I gotta start putting together better second halves. It’s been like that all series. 10 points is outrageous. You know what I mean? So, we have to be better. I have to be better. I’m disappointed in myself, and I’ll be better.” - Donovan Mitchell on the Cavs second half struggles

3) What makes Paolo and Franz special is that they’re happy to defer.

Paolo in Game 3:
31 PTS
14 REB
0 TO
+28

Franz in Game 4:
34 PTS
13 REB
0 TO
+32

Knew Franz was feeling it once he picked up a tech in the first after putting Niang on the floor with the spin cycle. Orlando’s offense came alive as soon as they moved Paolo off the ball (120.4 ORTG). Jonathan Isaac (79.5 DRTG, 4-6 3PT) may have moved to the bench but he’s still a huge reason the Magic have looked so good. He’s shooting 42.9% on 3's in the playoffs and holding opponents to 26.9 FG%. Feels like he’s everywhere.

Magic beat the Cavs 112-89. Series is tied 2-2.

“Just try to get in the paint and make the right plays. I thought our defense was the key in the second half. They didn’t even score 30 points.” - Franz Wagner

“That was one of the best games that I’ve seen him play.” - Moritz on his baby bro, Franz

They stopped barking this year. Next year they need to get rid of the dog chain. Team needs to grow up. And fire JBB.

I just don’t get Cavs media saying JBB has no options TT and Morris are old and everyone else sucks. I would play the 15th man if my starters weren’t getting it done. Where’s the imagination? Magic are playing with different starting lineups figuring out what works. Wake up Cavs.

Sure, let’s throw Bates out there and see what happens.

The other bench options are TT, Morris, and Merrill. There’s no one else to turn to.

Wade being hurt has been a huge blow this series. Not sure how much CPJ would help, but he’d at least be able to give Garland and Mitchell a breather
