2023-24 Playoff Series #2 | Game #2 | Cavs @ Celtics | May 9, 2024

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
This was Boston's biggest home loss of the year. They only lost five games at home all year before tonight. Their biggest home loss previously was to the Clippers by 19.

They lost Game 2 at home against Miami to make it 1-1 but then won the next three so I expect them to play much better on Saturday. The Cavs woke them up. This season will be a disaster if they lose to Cleveland after getting knocked out by 8th seed Miami last year.

Maybe Donovan can be our Jimmy Butler and Mobley can be our Bam Adebayo.

Just got done watching. No dead wood on the court tonight. Everyone contributed.
I don’t dislike the Celtics players. They score and go back and play defense unlike those douche bags from Orlando. It’s the fans I hate. They think they are privileged.

White was 7-for-12 on 3's in Game 1 but the Cavs pressured him into going 1-for-8 tonight. For the rest of the series I think he'll be between those extremes.

Holiday had 4 points in 35 minutes. I was wondering if his age would be a factor. He'll be 34 in a month. And Horford had 11 points and 2 rebounds in 29 minutes. He'll be 38 in less than a month.

That little squat Pritchard had 13 points and 4 assists in 20 minutes, including an offensive rebound and cutback. I can't believe they let that little turd do that.

At one point with Mobley out they had Morris playing center. I wonder if they'll try that with Dean Wade. Put him in the corner on offense and let him defend Tatum.

I remember some posters suggesting how made Dan must be at this season etc.... lol lol lol

He was probably furious at times. I'm guessing he was pretty damn unhappy when we were down 18 in Game 7 just 4 days ago.

But winning has a way of cheering people up.

I’ll point out that the Celtics don’t play nearly as hard as the Magic. The Cavs have to feel relieved that they don’t have to work as hard every possession on Offense.

I’m sure they’ll try to “flip the switch” in game 3, but as a Lakers fan in the early aughts, I can tell you that’s not as easy for teams as they may think.

  • Bickerstaff decided to go small to start the second quarter with Niang and Morris. After little production in the paint in the first quarter, the Celtics had 10 paint points right away. They attacked the Cavs small front line.
  • Compounding the issue is Morris and Niang plus LeVert, Strus, and Garland. That lineup was a -11 in 4+ minutes. All other Cavs lineups for the first half was a +11.
  • This gets to the issue of lineup construction and putting your players in a position to succeed. Niang with Morris was a -11, and Niang with Garland was a -7 in the first. half. Niang with Mobley was +9 and with Mitchell was a +9.
  • The Cavs managed to withstand the Celtics run, and the rough second quarter bench minutes, by finishing the quarter on a 11-3 run to tie the score going into half time. Mobley, Okoro and Mitchell combined to score all of the Cavs points during their run.
  • All eight of the Cavs that played in the second quarter scored.
  • One of the differences in the first half was the Cavs guards gang rebounding and helping to clear defensive possessions. Garland had 5 defensive rebounds and Mitchell had 4. They limited the Celtics to 4 first half offensive rebounds compared to 7 in Game 1.
  • For the half, the Cavs had a 23-17 rebounding advantage over the Celtics. Despite missing Jarrett Allen, the Celtics may miss Kristaps Porzingis more.
  • Credit to LeVert as his 12 first half points helped carry the Cavs bench to a 16-8 advantage in the first half. The Celtics had a 24-15 bench advantage in Game 1.
