2023-24 Season | Game #58 | Cavs @ Bulls | Feb. 28, 2024 | 8:00 p.m.

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
And Derozan was more of their second big hence Wade matching up with him when he was ours.
I implore tou to watch overtime 1 and 2 again, possession by possession, if you believe Derozan was being used as a big man offensively.

They quite literally ran their offense through him isolating on the perimeter.

The rookie kid was inside and crashing the glass on every attempt.

He’d defend the guy that was playing his 3rd pro game. Can’t think of his name. He was a white player. He played the whole 2nd OT and got plenty of run throughout the game.
He was a white player? Be better in your posts.

One game doesn’t define a season by the Cavs or the Bulls.
It doesn’t but the Cavs‘ performance over the last 7 games is disturbing— 2 losses to the Embiid-less Sixers (especially since we beat them w/ Embiid earlier and Tobias Harris missed one of those losses), and a loss to the Magic at home. Our wins came against the hapless Wizards , barely scraped by the Bulls at home and needed a 59 foot heave at the buzzer to beat the Mavs

This guy played 27 minutes. I think Merrill could have matched up with him for 15-20 of them. That could have given Mitchell and Garland 5-7 minutes more rest each. Neither Mitchell or Garland had any legs left in the 4th quarter.

Read my post. I was saying play Merrill in the 4th and earlier in the game to give fresh legs.
I used his hustle plays as an example.
In the 4th qtr he wasn’t the second big.
And him crashing the glass didn’t hurt us. It was Drummond and Vuc.

So watching the overtime proves nothing.
He’ll in the game thread I actually suggested Merrill or Porter Jr to see if we can catch a spark.

So again, our opinions won’t change and we are talking about two different times in the game.

I’d never suggest bringing someone in for the first time in double overtime.

The Bulls earned it - they clearly wanted it more. 25 offensive rebounds to only 5 for the Cavs. Drummond was huge, 17 points and 26 boards including 9 offensive rebounds. The Cavs had no answer for him. The Bulls had 32 second chance points to 11 for the Cavs. That was the game right there.

Vucevic and Drummond combined for 41 points and 39 rebounds. They kicked Allen's butt. Jarrett had 11 points and just 4 rebounds in 34 minutes. On top of that Allen committed the dumbest foul I've seen this year on DeRozan. Allen is 6'11', Rosen is 6'6". Just put a hand up and make him force up a 3. Allen just blundered into him. I have no idea what he was trying to do. The Cavs had a foul to give so he may have been fouling him on purpose, but DeRo was already into his shot.

Mitchell fell apart at the end. With 1:38 to go in regulation he threw up a 3-point airball off a spin move. With the score tied and 18 seconds to go at the end of regulation he lost the ball on his dribble, depriving the Cavs of a chance to hit a game-winning shot. At the end of the first OT he missed a free throw that would have given the Cavs a 4-point lead with 13 seconds to go. Then he missed a 15-foot jumper to win at the end of the first OT. He also had five turnovers.

The good news was Garland hit seven 3's. It looks like he's got his legs back and his confidence from deep. Unfortunately, he got blocked about four times on layups. He needs to go back to the one-footed floater. But it's great to seen him knocking down 3's again.

LeVert was outstanding with a line of 14/7/15 plus two steals and two blocks. But he ran out of gas in the second OT, missing an uncontested corner 3 and a layup off a steal.

Niang sucked and Wade barely got off the bench. What else is new?

The Cavs got a win they didn't deserve last night. They really deserved this loss tonight. The Bulls were ravaged by injuries but teams usually win in that situation. Guys like Drummond and Dosunmu who are getting a lot of extra minutes respond by playing with a vengeance. The Bulls crashed the offensive glass relentlessly. Drummond was the difference.

A rookie from Turkey named Bitim, who had not scored a point in his 6-minute NBA career, had 10 points on just four shots. He made two key free throws at the end. DeRo made all three of his after Allen fouled him. But Mitchell missed the one he needed to make.

Mobley had a great game with 25 points, 13 rebounds and 4 blocks, but he blew an uncontested shot right at the rim that lost us the game in the end.

Every time the Cavs have the ball with the shot clock off at the end of a quarter Garland dribbles down the clock and misses a 3-pointer. Anybody else getting tired of that?

You can’t win with some posters. I suggest using the ignore feature liberally ; it makes things much better. Oh and CPJ wasn‘t even active tonight; he was on G League assignment despite having his contract converted

Good catch on Porter.

Gotta give DeRo his props. At 34 years old, playing his 3rd game in four nights, having played 40 minutes last night, he played 49 minutes scoring 35 points with 10 rebounds and 5 assists. What a remarkable effort. Not to mention hitting three free throws after Allen stupidly fouled him at the end of the first OT.

The Cavs forced DeRo into an 8-for-26 shooting night, but he went to the line 19 times, making 17. His ability to draw fouls is incredible.

And Coby White played 50 minutes after playing 41 last night. He was 5-for-20 but had 12 assists. Like I said, the Bulls wanted this one bad, having lost seven in a row to the Cavs. They didn't want to finish 0-4 this year.

Mobley and Allen together to close games just shrinks the floor so much. How many times do we see Mitchell and Garland drive to the paint and there are instantly so many bodies in the paint and they get trapped into a shit turnover or a feeble shot attempt?

How is Merrill not getting a single minutes tonight? Why no Wade when he was very effective in the first half? A little bit of All Star break adversity and JB is resorting back to the pumpkin that we all suspect he is.
We all knew this was coming before Mobley and Garland came back. What pisses me off most though is in post game interviews during our hot streak he'd constantly talking about keeping our bench guys incorporated in the offense because they were doing so well. Damn liar. I'm throwing a pizza party when he's fired.

That’s the frustrating part; these last 9 or 10 games were the perfect opportunity to use the full assets of the roster that enabled us to ascend in the standings in the first place…..ESPECIALLY since the team was playing at a very mediocre level during that period AND it was against a plethora of lesser opponents
