2023-24 Season | Game #68 | Cavs @ Pacers | March 18, 2024 | 7:00 p.m.

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
You don't win that game without Morris. Very encouraging debut for him. A guy with his size that can space the floor is exactly what we need. Obviously, he's not a long term solution, but he has the ability to get hot and swing a game like he did tonight.
We have had role players save our asses a number of times this year. Over the course of an 82 game season, the whole bench matters.

Was that...was that an actual motion offense for the game sealing play that lead to an uncontested layup???

Is JBB learning???

Big win. But why did it feel like we won despite our max pg?

Caris Fucking Levert.

Edit: I just finished the game

  • DG really needs to get it together. Another 5 turnover-game. Another turnover during a crucial point of the game with a minute left to go in the 4th. At least in the recent dozens of games, he's been playing a very unserious brand of basketball. He has not been the floor general/leader that a lot of us were hoping for
  • Besides the Pelicans game, he can't seem to drive by the bigs that switch onto him, let alone his primary defenders. Hopefully it's because he's still getting back into the game shape that he lost during his jaw injury. Either way, instead of adjusting or looking for different ways, he's forcing the issue trying to drive by these guys even when it's not working. The ball really sticks to him in these moments
  • Gotta give credit when credit is due. I've been critical of JB, but it was great to see that they actually ran something with 40 seconds to go, instead of having Garland or LeVert ISO. It got the Pacers defense scrambling, and Isaac got a wide open layup. And oh, great coach's challenge. I thought Niang pushed Siakam, but it turns out his belly is what it is. What can you do?
  • What a game by Marcus Morris. If he can continue to play somewhat like this, his shooting and toughness may become valuable in the playoffs

I can’t figure this team out
2-1 on the road. The team is so down, so many guys. It is late in the season. It was a successful road trip, and Morris made an immediate impact, as did Tristestosterone. Wade should be back soon... We need to keep finding ways to win until all the guys are back, assuming they all can get back before the start of playoffs...

  • Perhaps more anecdotal then evidential but the noticeable difference between Darius Garland and Donovan Mitchell led teams is on court control displayed especially when things are not going as well. In 10 first quarter minutes, Garland was a -9, led the Cavs to only 18 points scored, a 90 ORTG and was on the court when the Cavs had as many turnovers (4) as assists. There was a four-minute stretch where the Cavs didn’t have a basket, and they only scored 11 points over an eight-minute span after seven points in the first couple of minutes. Those type of stretches didn’t seem to happen as consistently with Mitchell.
  • But credit to Garland for bouncing back. In the following two quarters: 2Q: 7 minutes, 20pts, +13, 142 ORTG, 3:1 AST-TO ratio. 3Q: 12 minutes, 36pts, +7, 150 ORTG, 9:2 AST-TO ratio. If the Cavs are going to sustain key injuries, Garland is going to have to play like this more consistently.
