2023-24 Season | Playoff series #1 | Cavaliers vs. Magic |

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I caught The Hoop Collective on ESPN the other day and Windhorst stated the 1-3-1 (1 big, 1 pg and 3 shooters) was absolutely the way to go for the Cavs. The results and data both have supported such but JBB has failed to embrace such when we have a full(er) roster
But what's he going to do? Bench Mobley - the #3 pick in the draft who everybody says is the key to the Cavs getting to the Finals at some point? The guy who Giannis said "can be better than me"?

Or Allen, who they gave a big contract extension to and is playing the best ball of his career?

And if he benches one of them, or alternates them at center with each getting 24 minutes a game, who plays power forward with Wade out? Niang? Morris? Okoro? None of them are starting caliber power forwards and Okoro isn't a power forward at all.

Next year I would go with Allen for 32 minutes, Mobley for 16 and 16, and Wade for 32 at power forward. So Allen and Mobley would be on the floor together for 16 minutes a game, or 33%. But we can't do that now as Morris probably can't play 32 minutes. Maybe 24?

LeVert needs to check in like Strus did last game. So far he's really floundering and I think it's because he is not a good shooter either mid-range or on 3's. He is most effective getting to the rim for lay-ups and dish-offs after drawing the big to contest his shot.

Orlando is not a good match-up for him because of all their length inside, where LeVert does most of his scoring. Caris is shooting 33.3% from the field and 26.7% on 3's in five games. He has to figure out how to be more productive in the 24 minutes per game he's averaging. He's having a tough time with guys like Carter Jr, Isaac, and the Wagners lurking in the paint.

He's only averaging 2 assists in 24 minutes; in the regular season it was 5 assists in 29 minutes. Caris needs to figure out how to help this team a lot more offensively. Mitchell is limited right now and we need all hands on deck.

I'm not convinced JBB would be allowed to bench Allen or Mobley. He wanted to start Garland and Okoro and after internal discussions he started Garland and Sexton.

Not every problem has an easy solution.

Allen and Mitchell need to be traded this off season

If we had 3 shooters (who can shoot) we would have won this series already.

Just got back. We were down 4 at the half and now we're tied. We can't shoot from 3, but we're keeping up!

WHY ARE THERE 2 FUCKING THREADS? SHUT THIS ONE DOWN.

Sorry, I disagree. Mobley has no offensive game beyond 10 feet from the rim, and his post-up moves inside 10 feet are slow and predictable. He tried a fallaway in front of the rim yesterday that Isaac blocked before it ever got out of his hand.

Mobley's shooting touch is awful and he doesn't have a jump hook beyond three feet. He's good at pump fakes when he gets the ball at the rim and he's great at dunking lobs when his defender has to switch off and challenge the shot.
I have said this before BOTH Allen and Mobley have no offensive game and totally rely on others to create their opportunities either with lobs or drive and dish moves!
JMJ!!!!!! Suggs moved Mobley off the box three times tonight when he caught the ball down low.

I disagree about JA. He has a real man's post game complete with footwork and polished post moves. Put him in the right surrounding cast and he'd dominate the paint.
