I wanted Renfroe instead of Reyes and got ripped for it around here.

Looks like we were in similar places back then. From 2019:

I'll take Renfroe instead of Puig.

And yeah, last year there was some Amed for Renfroe talk. I got weird pushback from people saying he wasn't a good right fielder.

He's not actually a good RF and he has been inconsistent with the bat. Though on paper, having him would have been nice to have since we really weren't getting production from the RF position...

If we didn't have OGonz and Brennan, I wouldn't have been against a trade for him in all honesty...

Outside of the pandemic season he's been a productive hitter and brings a power threat that few can match.

Yes he is a good defensive RFer.

He doesn't walk much and so his OBP% hasn't really been all that good... Plus he has always been a negative fielder outside of 19...

I didn't say I wouldn't take him, I just said, he isnt a strong fielder...

That was the most incredible awesome catch ever. He stuck his glove out there and it hit it. He doesn't catch that, it's a triple and he's on Shaqtin a Fool baseball edition.

For the love of baby Jesus. Neither have an arm as strong as Renfroe.

I’m not even advocating Renfroe needs to be a Guardian, but I’m not going to downplay his abilities in some silly conversation.

Yes.

There are plenty of outfielders with stronger arms from the outfield than pitchers. Pitching and throwing from the outfield are different biomechanical operations.

That's like laughing at the idea an Olympic javelin thrower could throw a javelin further than an Olympic shot putter. Of course they can, they're different feats. You're the ridiculous one for thinking they're so tightly linked.

I was messing with him a bit lol and I definitely know the difference since I threw shot put (I would have loved to throw javelin lol)

Renfroe, outside of one season, was always rated as a negative fielder and one plus trait doesn't make him a good fielder. He isn't a whole lot different than OGonz in a lot of ways (OGonz has better foot speed while Renfroe has better bend/ground ball fielding skills).
