2023 NFL Draft - Day 2 - Rounds 2 & 3

Do Not Sell My Personal Information

Which position do the Browns take with their first pick on Day 2?

There are so many vet DL available in FA that it doesn't surprise me we went this way. We'll let the market continue to drive their prices down and sign another 1-year deal for someone.

This was their #1 WR in 2021

I don’t think they wanted Hyatt. Not a good route runner. Smallish.

Tillman is big, fast, produced when he played and blocks.
Was just messin around. I don't think much of Hyatt at all.

Tillman seems like a solid pick to me.

All personnel moves this off-season definitely point to the Browns running a lot more 4&5 WR sets. Watson excels out of the empty backfield.
I get that, but WRs in a 4-5 set are a dime a dozen. Why not take the defensive or oline BPA and use the later picks on a WR?

Would have preferred a DL pick but I'm good with this. By most accounts a 2nd round value.

A lot of draftniks felt Tillman working the sideline routes was better than Hyatt who had generated touches and fly patterns.

Tillman was incredible before Hooker's injury. For my money he is the most physical receiver in the draft class. He's a safe bet as a possession receiver, as he dropped only five of his 104 career catchable targets.

I would have wanted Adebawore or Washington but Watson gets a weapon.
I don't see ever him being a vertical threat, but you can bet your ass he'll catch passes in traffic and turn and burn. We're gonna watch him feast in 1v1 matchups and that's the exact WR we needed next to the route running champion and speedy guy in Moore.

Tillman brings a physicality at the position that we sorely lacked. Kind of a luxury pick but I also like the value. Relative to his athletic testing and frame, there’s no way you get him in the 3rd if he is healthy. I like taking a swing.

At the end of the day, we gave Watson a shit load of money to take us to the promise land. With the QB’s in the AFC, we’re going to to have to put up some serious points to make the playoffs and advance. WR wouldn’t have been my first pick there, but we can now put Cooper, DPJ, Njoku, Moore, and Tillman on the field at the same time. That combination of size, speed, and strength is going to be difficult for any secondary to handle.
