2023 Season | Series #33 | Royals @ Guardians | July 24-26, 2023

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Maybe I'm wrong but damn it doesn't seem likely to be on Tito. My impression of him is a guy who might have his opinions but isn't obstinate about decisions like this (I feel he has been mischaracterized by some as this stubborn old uncle). If you'd like to correct me I'd take your word on that but this has to be coming from elsewhere, no?

That's the thing though.

I have no idea. Tito loves the kid. Is the reason he was on the postseason roster too. The front office didn't want him to come up without a clear path to consistent playing time. They wanted him to play a lot. And here he is not playing a lot. He has now started in only 55% of the games we have played since he was called up. That's horrendous.

I mean you don't see a starting catcher start much more than 65 +/- 5% of the time plus since they are platooning him, it's hard to see him even getting 60% of the games the rest of the way especially with the way teams purposely find left handed pitchers to make spot starts against us...

That being stated, I agree, the young guys need to play as much as possible otherwise there isn't much point of having them up...

He shouldn't be platooned. He needs ABs vs LHP if you think he is the catcher of the future.

And the issue isn't even today's game. It's the past 2 weeks.

There should never be a 2+ week stretch where Cam Gallagher starts as many games as Bo. But that's exactly what has happened.

I’m not sure you can answer- is this a pitchers calling the shots in their catcher, or a Tito thing? Seems like the first?

Its because Cam Gallagher is playing so well with his .363 OPS.

No.

3/5ths of the pitchers in our rotation had only thrown to Bo in games out of our current C group at the MLB level.

This is overthinking your lineup and going all out for the win today at the expense of wins tomorrow. Which, save for last year, has always been an issue under Tito when it’s come to developing younger players further at the MLB level.

Is playing Gallagher more an attempt to try to drum up any and I mean any trade interest?

You are a Guardians fan, you know this cant be true. The more we play Cam, the more it will cost us for another team to take him.

The handling of Bo, Freeman, and Arias this season has been nothing short of absolutely criminal.
they sacrificed at bats of development to play Rosario who is a poor defender all year and Zumino for over two . 5 months . Makes me think it is going to take a miracle to bench Straw next season

Gallagher is a Triple-A backup catcher at the absolute best right now - if that.

The fact that he has been on a Major League roster most of the season is embarrassing to the sport.
