2024 Guardians Regular Season Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
My POV is simple. To improve your offense gravitate toward players with higher graded hit tools.

Manzardo would be the poster boy here. A player with an above average to plus hit tool with below to fringe average power tool. The later (hit tool) provides a base to attempt to address the former. If you will that’s the shortest distance between two points. Subsequently IMO attempting to adjust from a poor hit tool is the longest distance (reinventing the wheel territory).

I’m not cool with wasting time attempting to squeeze blood out of a turnip but you be you.
All theory and you'll have to prove to me over the course of time that your idea isn't attempting to "squeeze blood out of a turnip" as well. When you look at the best offenses in the league and I don't think your idea holds water.

Whichever the case, this team needs to SLG more and when they do they win. How you get there is irrelevant to me.

But you say Kwan, and great point. WIthout power, Kwan showed he had an elite skill from day one of getting on base, something Rocchio has failed at. i just dont see it with Rocchio either. I am not sold on Arias either, but elite defense and power takes longer to develop.

I still see Arias as possiblly working out although not probable, with Rocchio I dont see a path to success.
Couldn't have said it better myself Lee.

Just miserable news. But I remember Zydrunis with the Cavs had severe foot problems, but wound up having a good career.
Another reason to draft an outfielder.

But he lost most of his athleticism after the surgeries. He once was a guy who could take a rebound, dribble full court, and dunk it in the other basket.

Brito is 22 years old and hitting .196 at Columbus. I think it's a little early to be moving our Platinum glove second baseman to another position to make room for Brito.

Rengifo hit .264/.724 and .264/.783 the last two years. He's at .330 now but that won't last. If I'm going to trade for a position player it's going to be a center fielder.
I know Brito got off to a slow start, but everyone here knows that he is a very good hitter with more offensive upside than Rocchio. He has a lot better discipline than Arias too.

Rengifo also plays CF. His versatility, ability to hit and hit with power are what has drawn my interest in him. I think he would be a nice fit.

I think we are looking way too much into this...

We are trying to decide if two sub 25 guys are major league players or not from a very limited MLB time... Let's wait til decide anything since that's what the FO is doing... Let them get time and ABs to see what they can do...
Logical as hell Coach, but only one is getting consistent AB at SS right now while the other is moving all over the diamond and playing positions he's never played before in his life. It's like they're in each others' way.

What a disaster, I'm now thinking he wouldn't even make it through 162. Foot problems are just no joke. Also, might need to consider a position change because covering all that grass isnt good for one's foot.

Do they have Tommy John surgery for feet? Or do they just play the theme to "Footloose" if he ever comes to bat?

You will definitely see opposing teams do that for sure when he comes up to bat...

I know that many will disagree with me here but I think Josh can play right field a couple times a week. There has to be more than Josh and KM rotating back and forth DH/1B.

Did Chase hurt his foot playing in the field? If so, might be time to strictly DH him.

He had another injury to his foot that had surgery a few times. I didn't see anywhere saying where he did it though...

I think that's asking for an injury to Josh. IMO he's not made to play outfield.

CLEVELAND, Ohio — Guardians top prospect Chase DeLauter will be sidelined after suffering an injury to his left foot while running the bases in a minor league game April 25.

I was surprised that they ever were able to get Zydrunis back on the court on a regular basis. Huge guy having to run on a wooden floor. Not the best recipe to avoid foot injuries.
