Q…. Assuming that was the feeling of the Cavs, why did the Cavs not go ahead and trade Dean to Miami last year in the summer or just a few days ago to Phoenix?
Man, I was happy and thought of you when Dean hit those 3 first quarter 3's, then pissed when JBB took the hot shooter off the floor. If that's Merrill, he stays on the court. Not sure on that decision...
To your question, if there were teams pursuing Dean, I would bet they were trying to buy low. Dean is on a great contact for what he brings, and that is not easy to part with (see, Jarrett Allen). I fully believe the team knows what we have, his year last year was a lost one due to multiple lingering injuries, and they weren't about to give that away for peanuts.
His defense is no surprise to the team. I bet, through practice, we knew Dean had that dawg in him, and that is a missing component in JBBs bag. We also know, more than anyone, that he has a sweet stroke. So, why trade the 2 things away that we covet (3 & D) for peanuts?
Look, last year was a down year, and we all know that. Not one player on this team is above criticism. Dean took a ton last year, yet you remained confident in his abilities. I believe the staff did as well, even though you may believe otherwise.
