Anderson Varejao

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I truly believe that Anderson would evolve his game to maintain a high level of effectiveness as a basketball player. It's not like his game is largely dependent on athleticism. He just plays hard & smart.

He can score but is reluctant. Now with a veteran scorer like Deng; he's easily the best playmaker on the team.

He's doing shit I never would have thought possible in the Lebron era. At this point, I'd worry more about Andy's health than his actual on the court production. He'll figure out a way to help the team compete.

^ everyone slows down. AV is at his apex, he'll eventually slow down and we'll feel the results

I know he'll slow down, I just think his jumper would get even better & his playmaking would stay high as long he has finishers around him. His ball I.Q. isn't going to slow down.

The guys around him should get better so he doesn't have to do as much, too. He shouldn't regularly be getting more assists than our all-star point guard, for example.

Plus, the only silver lining to Varejao's injuries the past few seasons is that his mileage is lower than it should be.

If there's one player on the team who deserves to do the "Kobe death stare", its most definitely AV.

Any chance that Andy is voted in as an All-Star reserve? If asshole Bynum wouldn't of been starting for the first chunk of the season, his numbers would look more all-star worthy.

It might be my homerism glasses, but he'd have my vote.

I'd really like to see how he (and the team as whole) would be playing if we had played Andy all year long. Not that I regret signing Bynum, with him gaining us Deng and all.

That said, I don't think Andy has any chance. Not with Hibbert, Noah, Bosh and maybe Milsap.

the good news is, is that coaches vote the reserves and every interview ive seen from opposing coaches has them gush over how Varejao is the player you want on a team, heart and soul, etc. It could happen. If someone voted Waiters as best passer in the league, AV could be an allstar reserve this season

Where do you get the cool stats, like the ones that say Andy is top-3 in midrange shooting this year behind only Scola and Curry (going into last nights game).

I constantly get into arguments with friends and I'd love to back it up with numbers.

alot of times i hear the commentators say stuff like that as i watch the games.

What's going to happen in the future when we no longer have his incredible production?

People never talk about it, but it's gonna happen at some point and when it does, the whole team will take a huge step backwards IMO.

Andy is the heart and soul of this team, without him I firmly believe we'd only have 6-7 wins and be fully immersed in tank mode.

Yes, I think our first pick this year should be a center, assuming we can somehow keep Deng.

first there is only 11 centers in the NBA attempting more than 2 mid range shots a game. second some guys like Listed as power forward/center and cetner/power forward arent included in the filter.

so I turned off the filter which had Andy 2nd with a 48% fg average at 2 attempts a game and made a complete list and edited out the non centers.
I would take Horford or lopez if I wanted a primary or secondary shooter from center.

Edit Chart didnt format correctly. <shrug>removed

Any center not listed . doesnt take more thn 2 attempts from.

anyways you can get this information from NBA.com under sortable player stats/playershots.

then its just a matter of playing with the filters. If a guy your expecting to be there is missing he either is in no mans land or listed under a different position.</shrug>
