Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Wow, that is an interesting looking dog.

I she part pittie?

We rescued her, so we have no clue. They said Bassett/Coonhound, and I can sort of see it, but the whole brindle thing throws me off. Her build is not coonhound at all.

We’re eager to do one of those tests.

This particular dog park is a bar that opened down the street from where I live last fall. I actually like it a lot because it's a membership bar. You have to download an app, provide proof of your dog's vaccinations, and they have dedicated employees that pick up after the dogs, spray down the turf, and break up the occasional scuffle between pups. They also have a water park section where they turn on sprinklers for a few hours a day during the summer months. You can see that in the first pic above. My dog loves it. She'll stick her face in the sprinklers to drink water when she gets thirsty.

The app is nice too because it will tell you if your dog needs updated vaccinations. I meant to take my mom there a few months ago when she visited but the app quickly shut that down and let me know I needed to schedule a vet appointment before I brought her back.

The whole operation seems tailored to eliminate all the issues you run into at unregulated dog parks...people not picking up after dogs, aggressive dogs with passive owners (this place will ban dogs that repeatedly start fights), dogs that might not be vaccinated, etc. And there's lots of local craft beer on tap.
That's a really neat system. I'm very hesitant to take our dog to most dog parks for most of the reasons you mentioned, but something like this would make me feel much more comfortable.

That sounds fun. I hate the free for all parks. I’ve spent a lot of time and a good amount on money on making sure my dogs don’t act like out of control idiots like their owners probably are.

I travel with my shepherd and the only time I use dog parks are on the road. Conditions vary some in cleanliness but I've always been able to find a decent one. I've never had problems with aggressive dogs, but sometimes the owners are idiots. Being around unfamiliar animals is important if you want your dog to be sociable and comfortable in all situations. I try to expose my dogs to cats, dogs, horses, urban craziness, and such so she can adapt as we travel.

Yeah there's another dog bar here that has no requirement to show vaccination records and not as many people to pick up after dogs and it's a terrible experience. I feel like I have to watch my dog at all times. At the place near me I feel like I can have fun, drink a few beers, and let my dog run without the anxiety of having to monitor her every second. She usually checks in every couple of minutes anyway to make sure I'm still there.

This is my dog:

That tongue is unreal.

Maine Coon has rejected Chilean Sea Bass.

Refuses to touch it.

Must be ethical or some shit.

How does Maine Coon feel about Patagonian toothfish?

Rejected as a lot, along with Antarctic Toothfish, no matter the branding.

He also refuses to eat any cod caught near Russia.

Comfy in his spot
He's just thrilled to get to sit on a couch next to me. This was a couple days ago. Apparently he's very upset that I'm not home now. Sitting at the ER for a couple hours to get my probable hernia looked at.

Not sure if the joke was missed as Chilean Sea Bass's real name is Pantagonion Toothfish, he was rebranded as Chiliean Sea Bass by some American restaurant because no one wanted to eat toothfish.

"The name "Chilean seabass" was invented by a fish wholesaler named Lee Lantz in 1977."-- wikipedia

Sounds like a name a 5-year-old would come up with.

It was just a cracked rib. My kitty is now happily purring next to my side.

Oh I got it, that is why I said branding, along with Antarctic Toothfish which is also sold, along with the Patagonian, as Chilean Sea Bass.

Most of these fish are caught no where near Chile these days.

There is actually a really interesting story on how these fisheries got certified as sustainable and it involves sting operations and Greenpeace chasing a pirate ship fleet for 10,000 miles before having the boats sunk.

The Toothfeesh are now 99% sustainable. 15 years ago half the fish on the market were poached. Now about 2%.

Remarkable turnaround.

In any event, Maine Coon prefers Alaskan halibut, Lingcod and sardines.

He was raised on halibut. I first got him five months after my post-Iraq Alaskan fishing trip. I had 100 lbs of halibut, and 50 lbs of lingcod, 50 lbs of salmon, shipped home and bought a second freezer to accommodate it. We ate well for a year. Maine Coon ate these fishes everyday growing up. He grew mighty. And spoiled.
