She [Gloria James, LeBron's mother] got pregnant at 16, and it's been just her and her "Bron Bron" ever since. She says the father was a casual sex partner named Anthony McClelland, who by now is well-known within the state and county penal systems. The guy had to overcome a lot. Seeing his dad is a screw up only makes me respect LeBron's tenacity more. I know lots of players grew up in environments like this which is too bad. Maybe it fuels a few to overcome their surroundings, but in far too many cases the cycle is just continued.

That is Roland Bivens the man that died at a young age. This could be his dad not Anthony Mcclelland. That was proven on a news story about 4 years ago. Roland went to Akron South High and did play Basketball.
