Shoes are like tires on motor vehicles. Tremendous force and stress under different conditions, need durability as well and they are the only parts of the athlete that normally touch the floor. Tires are by far the most technologically advanced part of any car and require a massive amount of R&D. Same with really good basketball shoes.
I wouldn’t want to drive a vehicle on tires designed and engineered on a shoestring budget and I wouldn’t want a pro athlete I cared about wearing shit shoes.
Awful for Lonzo who had developed a really good shot and now might be done.
I'm not discounting the importance of tires, but this sentence seems like hyperbole. Direct injection, variable valve timing, self driving/parking capabilities, intelligent on-board diagnostics and computer systems, hybrid drivetrain setups, intelligent all wheel drive... I can think of a ton of things I would consider more technologically advanced than tires. Curious as to why you think that is the case (also, happy to take this to PM, as I know I'm straying off topic)
