Baker Mayfield: Fire The Cannons

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
That’s seems like a very bad comparison. Frankie can can get a lot more money from other teams because of no salary cap. We always could offer lebron the most money.
That makes it better. He won’t even have a conversation to discuss.

Are we really going to blame a MBL player, who is under team control far longer into his prime that other leagues, for wanting to get as big a deal possible for what could be his only big deal?

It’s and mlb problem, not a Frankie problem. Holding that against him, especially in comparison to lebron doesn’t seem fair to Frankie, IMO.

Can’t we talk Baker without having to talk LeBron?

You guys just can’t get LeBron out of your heads and mouths can you.

Frankie...the guy who won’t even give the Indians a chance at taking extension. Right.

The nerve of him to want to be financially set for life. It serves Lindor, a player of his caliber, no real need to talk an extension.

That's not a plight to Cleveland. That's business. He's going to be worth so much, it'd make no sense for someone of his caliber to entertain extension. Not going to hold that against him one bit.

I'm never going to fault the player for taking the money. It's just ridiculous to get angry at them when they do. I'd take the money every time too. You only play 10-15 years. You don't have a chance to earn 300 million very often. How many of you would honestly turn down money like that?

He would be set for life either way. Not that I disagree with the overall point, but still.

Right, so don’t even give the Indians the chance to make that offer to set you up for life, just go to free agency.

@SanduskyCav
  1. Do you think Lindor can get more money by signing an extension with Cleveland early, or by getting the highest contract offer possible on the free agent market?
  2. If the Indians organization makes a competitive offer to Frankie during his free agency, do you think Lindor is going to completely shut out Cleveland?

I think a respected team/city first guy should at least meet with them and tell his plan. Not tell them talks are off until free agency.

Everyone kisses Lindors’s ass, why? I thinks it’s hilarious people compare LeBron to him. He’s done nothing and he’s stuck in Cleveland until he has the chance to leave. I love him as a player, but for people to say he’s “one of us” over LeBron is laughable. He literally CANT leave even if he wants.

If someone told me i could have sexual interaction with Baker but it meant having aids the rest of my life....Well, slap my ass and call me Magic Johnson.

This is Baker's City. Not Lindor. Not Lebron. Not even OBJ or Landry.

We all Know Mayfield isnt going anywhere for a long time. Its not even a question to us. He knows he can be a Legend here, and feel he knows theres no better fan base for him. You can see the genuine love for the city already. All real. (Looking at you, LeBron.)

We've waited for our Knight in shining armour FQB for so long, And we finally got one that is special and truly gets us.

Fuck Darnold, Fuck Rosen, Lamar Jackson, Fuck Goff, Trubisky, Bridgewater, Fuck any Quarterback that we passed or wanted or wasted our time with. We got ours.

I wouldnt trade Baker for any other Qb to lead this team or to represent the city of Cleveland, and us the fans.

Even Mahommes.

I know this is personal to you, but Frankie came in from the outside and currently calls Cleveland home.

He may leave. He probably will. I don't get the whole "one of us" thing and I really haven't heard people say that with respect to Frankie. But I do know he's an incredibly charismatic superstar who is currently happy to call the Cleveland Indians his organization.

We can probably take this to PM rather than the Baker thread, but if you're capable of recognizing the difference between Cleveland and Akron, I don't think LeBron has ever been happy to call Cleveland his home. His first stint he went out of his way to make sure people knew Cleveland wasn't his city. His second stint, well, he ended it by literally choosing a new home.

Does he just bite a hole in the can???

He is truly a leader of men.

I mean it.

He knows when to do the right thing to whip people up.

He has the right stuff, even this young.

Alexander, Augustus, Karl XII, Napoleon. Baker. @The Human Q-Tip
Reminds me more of a young Charlemagne with his brashness and ambition, manly manness, and how good fortune cleared away their rival (Baker w/ Tyrod, Charlemagne w/ Carloman), avoiding a war.

Hes clearly a leader and he has dissolved my (very small) worry he may have a little Jeff George in his personality. He's a Bro's Bro and this town will eat it up. Hopefully the offensive line can keep him upright and we get many years of exciting football with him.
