Baker Mayfield: Fire The Cannons

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Mayfield with 15 straight completions and 3 TDs. He needs this kind of confidence and play moving forward if he hopes to get another contract with this team.

So, I love the game.

But, I'll be interested to see how much of "the change" we saw was Baker, and how much was Stefanski.

Just from watching live, it seemed like most of our passing success came after we started running out of the shotgun, or letting Baker take deeper drops when under center. His comfort issues from having to stay in the pocket disappear when you let him sink back further behind the offensive line. He seems more comfortable there, and for a shorter QB, it gives him more vision and a better trajectory for throwing the ball.

Also, that Bengals defense is atrocious.

Very impressed with how Baker answered that.

We took more shots down on the field. Even on the OBJ INT (extremely poorly thrown) the philosophy was sound. Stefanski is awesome, and I hope Mayfield can build off of this performance.

I really could not give two fucks how bad Cincinnati’s defense is. Baker played great. Burrow is getting sucked off for throwing 80 times and racking up stats vs a horrific Browns defense. This is the NFL. Nobody is going to take away that Baker is suddenly the guy after this game, but give credit where it is due. He couldn’t have done much more today.
