If anyone brings up Everybody Loves Raymond I will fight them.

Friends didn't make the list???

It isn’t a definitive list.

But I guess it is ok. Lol.

I suppose that is a good segue into what actually constitutes a sitcom versus a comedic program or comedic drama.

Is Fawlty Towers a sitcom? If so, we have a winner.

I couldn't get through more than 3 episodes of FAwlty towers. I did watch Toast Of London and Extras. Not that i will nominate them for best sitcom.

Does Green Acres, Mr ED, I dream of JEanie, Bewitched count ? Or should there be a separate list beyond on the decade ?

I'll be even more stereotypically gay than Stannis and bring up a sitcom no one else has mentioned yet (I agree with a number of others already mentioned)...Will & Grace. Jack and Karen are two of the best characters in any sitcom, the show was pretty damn hilarious, and it pushed boundaries for its time.

Sounds like we could have a tournament coming up...

The Beverly Hillbillies is funnier than all of the ones you listed. That show almost killed me once, almost chocked on a carrot I was eating and laughed so hard I choked on it and took a minute to get it out so I could breath again. I kept right on watching and eating carrots, and almost did the same thing 10 minutes later.

Crap I already did where do you want to meet so you can dance with the Snowman.

M*A*S*H is such an odd show for me. I grew up watching it, and it was on long enough that reruns were on every day and then there was a new episode once/week. I pretty sure they sometimes they showed two episodes in a week. I don't remember if it was two new episodes or one prior episode from that season and a new one. But I watched pretty much all of them - the old reruns, reruns from the current season, and new episodes.

But since the series ended I haven't remotely been interested in watching it.

I went with the trio of Taxi/Cheers/Frasier. Frasier a spinoff of Cheers, Cheers made by the same people who made Taxi. All 3 shows had such great casts. My guess is not as many people here watched Taxi as watched some of the other shows on the list.

One thing I though about Frasier though, is for the most part I thought it was funnier in it's early years.

For Taxi I remember so many scenes by heart, Cheers I remember so many funny lines.

Sam: explains how his barber was in an accident and is in the hospital. Then says "why do these bad things always happen to me" because he can't get his haircut.

The guys are watching some show on TV that none of them like, someone says "why don't you change the channel", the answer "we can't, the clicker is over there".

Here are a few classic Cheers clips

Kinda shocked no Fresh Prince here. That show is the ultimate in watchable shows.

Golden Girls is a masterpiece. Imo.

Seinfeld and The Office are tops for me.

Some not greats but goods:
Fresh Prince of Bel Air
King of Queens

I'd say "Leave it to Beaver" but it really shows my age and you pervs doubt need any help.

It might not be my favorite ever, but Newsradio has to be top 3... Phil Hartman, Dave Foley, Andy Dick, Joe Rogan... So underrated!

It's Seinfeld hands down.

Anything else mentioned (although probably really good) is on a tier level lower.

It's basically Seinfeld 1 and The Simpsons 1.Z

Here are a few that haven't been mentioned - The Brady Bunch, The Jeffersons, South Park.
