Typically, money does the talking. Shows the thoughts on CLE from some in the league out there.

I think he just wants more than he’s worth. I’d bet that offer was a month ago and he thought it would go up.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the Browns have offered "the most money to date" to free agent Jadeveon Clowney.
"It's the richest offer on the table and he hasn't taken it," Schefter said in an appearance on The Next Level with ESPN Cleveland. "So why is that? I don't know. Is that not wanting to be in that city? Is that a lack of belief in the organization? I don't know what it is. But there's no doubt Cleveland has offered the most money to date." It's possible the 27-year-old free agent is simply holding out until players report for camp before signing. Whatever the case, Clowney has reportedly received "multiple" offers from the Browns, Titans, and Seahawks and has not agreed to any. We would expect this drama to end in the early summer.

He has gotten offers from Browns, Seahawks and Titans. I wonder if he’s just waiting closer to the season to sign?

I think Clowney is still coming to grips with how a lack of expected production impacts market value. Everyone has told him since early high school that he will be an All Pro... until the Texans were far apart on a long-term contract and he was shipped off to Seattle. There's just a ceiling on an edge's value if they aren't getting 10 sacks a season.

I'm glad. Clowney isn't going to be a free agent for long. I think he would take our offer.

He sets the edge as good as anyone in the league. He'd flies sideline to sideline and would be a tremendous piece to have while trying to defend Lamar.

I don't blame any player for not wanting to come to this franchise anymore. The track record speaks for itself. However, sometimes you have to look ahead and not behind. On paper we are a playoff-caliber team. We are offering the most money.

My first thought is even though we are the highest bidder now, he's holding out for a bigger offer to come along. There's no rush to get signed at this point.

Someone photoshop his face and dreads on Brownie the elf and caption it, "Clowney the elf" and tweet it to him.

That will get him to come here.

I originally typed out, "Clowney the Brownie" because it rhymed and that just seemed a bit wrong. So don't tweet that at him, please.

I don't think it has anything to do with him not wanting to come here. I think he's just holding out to see if a better offer comes in, which is a smart thing to do since it's not like he is going to be reporting to a new team right now anyway.

That is possible. But it is also possible that the longer Clowney delays in taking his best offer available, that offer could go away/ disappear.
It is my understanding that IF the Browns signed Clowney, then the Browns would cut loose Vernon.
As this drags on, IF the Browns see/ realize that Vernon is healthy & motivated, they might determine its better to deal with what is here already then trying to bring in someone else.
