C.J. Miles signs with Cavs ($2M/year, 2nd year is team option)

re: C.J. Miles reportedly will sign with Cavs (2 years)

Good move.
Miles had good years with Deron as the pg. I expect an improvement over last years numbers with Irving.

I say they still keep Gee as well and that will push Waiters to the bench to start the year.

Kyrie, Miles, Gee, TT, AV will be the starting 5.

Gibson, Waiters, Lueur, Zeller will be the bench

CJ Miles expected to sign with the Cavs, not sure what that means for Alonzo Gee but its probably not good.

I don't think they're mutually exclusive. We're thin at both SG (Waiters, Boobie) and SF (Casspi, Walton), and both Miles and Gee can play both spots.

ETA: but yes, it probably isn't a good sign for Gee, especially from a negotiation perspective.

re: C.J. Miles reportedly will sign with Cavs (2 years)

I'm hearing its a 2 year deal starting at 2.5 million.

Edit* Was just told it could be higher then that... checking on it now.

2.5 would be a steal. He will easily out play that. Great young, cheap pickup.

re: C.J. Miles reportedly will sign with Cavs (2 years)

Does this open up a sign and trade with Gee for another role player?
Otherwise sign Gee and buy out Walton.
Miles and Gee platoon at sf is much better then the Moon, Jawad Williams garbage we had to sit through two years ago!

Gee on the bench, Waiters at starting 2. Gee was great off the bench last season before he was forced to start.

i don't understand why people think just because there's a possibility of Miles that it means the exit of Gee

Indeed. Gee is still restricted. If the signing brings him back down to Earth, he'll cut his own deal for similar money ... if he still thinks we're underpaying him, he can take the qualifying offer, or if another team offers him the mini-MLE, I imagine we'd just match.

Perhaps someone could still overpay for him, but nobody has been willing to so far.

He should be returning - unless we just don't want him anymore.

re: C.J. Miles reportedly will sign with Cavs (2 years)

wow, didnt expect him to sign with us... his shooting percentages got down the last few years but Kyrie's assists will take care of that now

re: C.J. Miles reportedly will sign with Cavs (2 years)

supposedly he has agreed to terms now

re: C.J. Miles reportedly will sign with Cavs (2 years)

I agree with the thought that signing Miles means nothing in regards to resigning Gee. Nice pickup in my opinion, should be interesting to see if Miles and Casspi can bounce back from the past couple of seasons.

Play Gee and Miles at the Wings at the start to give us some length and some semblance of defense and make Waiters the dynamic scorer off the bench.

re: C.J. Miles reportedly will sign with Cavs (2 years)

Seems like he is very good at running the floor. Let's get Waiters in shape because Irving, Waiters, Miles. TT an Zeller would be a ton of fun to watch in past pace style. Here is some evidence of miles running the court

As I wrote before, Miles' percentage dropped significantly from 2009-2010 going forward. In 2009-2010 Williams was the PG. in 2010-2011, Williams was the PG for 53 games. And Devin Harris isn't a bad PG either. So I wonder how much the PG can be blamed for his declining percentages.

Somewhat related, it will be interesting to see this season if Kyrie can indeed make those around him better.

re: C.J. Miles reportedly will sign with Cavs (2 years)

Well now with Miles in the mix, you have Casspi as the backup. If Gee is re-signed, you have him as well. If you have Casspi backing up the SF spot and move Gee to the backup SG spot, where does Gibson go? Back up PG spot?

I would imagine that either Gee or Casspi are traded. I've pretty much given up on the Dwight 3-way thing, but, Gee could be signed and traded to make things work more should we get back involved with that.
