St. Louis Cardinals reliever Josh Hancock was killed in a tragic automobile accident Sunday morning.

The St. Louis Cardinals were informed Sunday morning by the St. Louis Police Department of the tragic death of pitcher Josh Hancock, 29, who was killed in an auto accident on westbound Highway 64/40 within the city limits.
Cardinals’ Manager Tony La Russa informed Josh’s father of the tragedy. Major League Baseball representatives have also been notified and Sunday night’s 7:05 p.m. game with the Chicago Cubs has been postponed.

The Cardinals and the St. Louis Police Department will make a brief statement to the news media at 3 p.m. CDT in the Busch Stadium interview room.

Hancock, who is single, has been a member of the St. Louis Cardinals since February of 2006 and helped the team to its 10th World Series title last Fall.

The Cardinals have asked that all fans join the team in offering their prayers and condolences to Josh Hancock’s family

Very sad, I remember when Kile died their game was also canceled. RIP

Kile died the same week that Jack Buck died, Buck died on the 18th of June and Kile the 22nd it was really bad, there were all kinds of mounds and mounds of flowers outside the stadium.

RIP

It seems like the Broncos and Cardinals can't catch a break... Darrent Williams and then Damien Nash... Now for the Cards Kile then Hancock...

Just a sad thing that happened, that you wish didn't...
