Cavs interested in Curry?

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Something better than nothing...even if this new something is not as good as the old something.

Great. I guess I saw this coming, they're trying to replace Z with a younger post presence. I don't really get it though. Curry has had serious health issues at the end of the season forcing him out of the playoffs. He's had work ethic issues. He has potential, but it seems that this year's performance is mostly due to the fact that it's a contract year. I'd rather have Z for 3 years and see what the market has to offer rather than roll the dice on Curry.

We need a good GM, badly. I hope we pick up Kiki, give us some good leadership in the front office.

Hard to seperate fact from rumor here. Before Silas was fired, I remember he was a big Curry fan but is Brown a Curry supporter? From what I understand, I thought coach liked Z.

Id much rather overpay Z than overpay Curry. Curry is a decent option if Z doesnt want to resign. But he has health issues and a questionable work ethic. Id be afraid that after he gets a big contract from us he'll be lazy again and gain weight. He isnt much of a rebounder either. I would pick Dalembert over Curry.

what the hell are these guys doing...."this screams REGGIE LEWIS"

they're interested in the wrong TWIN TOWER on that team....

TYSON CHANDLER would be the perfect fit here..

#1- 12 points a night

#2- 9 or 10 boards a night

#3- shot blocker

#4- can get out in transition

#5- PLAYS DEFENSE.....................!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

People who display their annoyance with Ilgauskas because of his rebounding and defense would be in a rude shock with Curry. I agree with the Chandler call. He may not have the natural talent, but he does the small things well.

:chuckles: At least someone else is pissed hearing this too. I can't stand Eddy Curry's game.

I used to not like Tyson Chandler's game too, but he's shown what he can do when there's good guards around him. After they added Duhon to Hinrich in starting lineup, Chandler really took off, it was sweet. Would Chandler fit in an 8-man playoff rotation? Yeah, probably- his defense is niiice. He's definitely on my short list if we lose Z.

This rumor comes from Sam Smith who has a reputation for throwing out wild things in his columns. I don't put much stock into it.

I also would like to know who is exactly interested in Curry and regarding all recent rumors of players the Cavs are supposedly interested in? They don't have a front office in place at all. They have 2 guys left over from the last front office who will likely be gone soon after the new regime is brought in. It makes no sense to me why no one has been hired yet to be a part of the new front office. They're the ones who need to be putting their agenda in place and making the moves to acquire the type of player they want to build with. Gilbert needs to forget Larry Brown and move forward with the new front office.

Curry is too much of a risk now and not worth big money. He does have good talent and still has a lot of potential but right now his rebounding and defense is poor. The Cavs would be much better off keeping Z.

I'll play devil's advocate.

Blocked shots aside - Curry IS better defensively right now then Z. Curry allows a lower FG% and less points per 48 minutes then Z. He is not close to being a finished product at only 22 years of age he will only improve with good coaching. Z is as good as he is ever going to get defensively and with his feet and age his defensive ability will only decline.

Curry IS a better offensive post player then Z. I don't think there will be an arguement here. Overall Z is better offensively because of his ability to shoot from 18 foot in, however if Curry ever developes a 12 foot jump shot he will be a 20 point scorer in this league.

Niether player is a great rebounder, but neither center is required to be a dominant rebounder. I think both could average 9 rebounds a game if that was asked of them.

That all being said I to think Chandler could be the best of the bunch when all is said and done.

see in the past couple years, i thought eddy would (when in shape) turn out to be a jermaine o'neal type, especially on the offensive end.

he does have a nice mid range shot and his jump hook is exceptional-- but his defense and his lazy like approach leaves much to be desired...

not to mention his medical condition..

if by the slightest chance the cavs did sign him-- that signing could put this team in a financial situation that would hurt them for years... (in terms of him not being able to play, due to his health)

we were lucky to get rid of kemp's contract--- i don't want to roll the dice on this one....

Curry is not better defensively then Ilgauskas. Those stats mean little when Curry has the luxury of playing with solid defensive perimeter players and a strong veteran in Antonio Davis. Compare that to Ilgauskas's situation of having to cover for LeBron and McInnis, and also for the not so smart Drew Gooden. There is a reason over the years why Ilgauskas has matched up on the oppositions premier big man whether it be his man or not.

Curry has more oppotunities in the post then Ilgauskas. There are no guys in the Cavalier's lineup on the perimeter that gets mistaken for Hinrich, Gordon or Piatkowski. More space, more efficiency. Z jacking up jumpers is in part due to creating room inside for LeBron.

Curry should rebound more then what he does. There is no excuse for 5rpg. Neither is required to be double digits as you say, but his efforts are inexcusable.

Chandler is definately the better big man in Chicago.

I think Z has much more defensive impact on the game than Curry does. Curry does have the potential to become a better defender than Z, but right now he is only a decent at best defender. He seems too lazy to play the kind of D he is capable of playing.

I like Chandler a lot better too. He reminds me of AV but more polished. But isnt he a restricted free agent? I believe the Bulls plan is to let Curry walk and resign Chandler. Im not sure though. I dont follow the Bulls much.

Writer Sam Smith is like Roger Brown, you can't always take what he says seriously.

If Curry is deemed healthy, the plan is to retain Chandler and Curry both. If other teams make a run at them, Chicago intends on matching and keeping them.
