Antonio Daniels: Cavs Reportedly Interested

RotoWire.com Staff - RotoWire.com
Monday, June 27, 2005
Update: The Cavaliers are interested in the free-agent Daniels, the Akron Beacon Journal reports.

Recommendation: The Cavs lost confidence in Jeff McInnis last season and didn't get much offense from Eric Snow either. Daniels averaged 11.2 points and 4.1 assists per game last season while shooting 43.8 percent from the floor, 29.7 percent from behind the arc, and 81.6 percent from the line while averaging 27 minutes of court time. This could be a good match, especially if the Cavs move Jiri Welsch.

i would love to see daniels here. he is also a great magnent for both redd and ray allen. he would be a great start to this off season...

I don't know if there is enough money to resign Z, sign a Redd/Allen/Hughes, AND sign Daniels.

The Cavalier's better get a plan A, B, C,.........Z. Many thing can happen this next month like getting two prominent free agent, or even nobody of great worth. So many variables.

i don't know where i read it- (i believe slam magazine) but can't confirm that, it was about 7-8 months back- but there was an article that said something on the lines of REDD and ANTONIO were pretty tight..

i know it won't play too much into it- but i just wonder if by signing one, if that would perhaps encourge the other to possibly want to sign on and play with a good friend and ofcourse "THE KING" ? just food for thought.

both are ohio boys, and i remember last march when i was at the sonics vs cavs game- the DAINELS family took up 3 rows of the section i was in..

There should be room to re-sign Z, one of the shooters and Daniels. If Z takes 10 (crosses fingers), and AD is signed to around 4 mil, we'll have the space.

However, we would also need to get a big to take over for Tractor...

It's just a scary proposition right now.

We have 8 guys under contract and 6 spots to fill with no picks and enough money to sign 3 free agents.

We can sign all 3 (i believe), we just wouldn't have a strong bench...

i am no expert on nba salaries, contracts, CBA, MLE, bird rights but i do have a intresting question that might have already been asked on here before and i might not have seen it. so.....

we have 25 million to spend on free agency. say we spend 24 on our shooting guard, back up point guard, and bench players that we need and we still have not signed z yet. is it then legal to sign z and go over the cap? does he have to be our first option? if so spend on everything else then sign the big man..

also is it legal to just spend over the cap? ala mavericks and knicks.. if so i think that is what gilbert has to do. even if he has to pay a luxery tax. hey it would be an investment. if he doesnt, like i said before, his $350 million investment will be worth about 5 bucks after lebron leaves. him paying a tax will be well worth it..

You can only go over the cap to sign your own players. We have relinquished the rights to Z, or are going to, so technically he's not our player right now. We'd have to sign him up within cap restraints.

wow i thought Daniels was a better 3pt shooter then 29.7, but i would still take him.
