Former star Cavalier center Jim Chones has had his name mentioned as a possible big man coach. With Paul Silas moving on, who specialised moreso on big men, the Cavalier's do have a void to fill.

Jim Chones will be a feature on Player Countdown on the Cavalier History forum in the coming weeks.

Jim Chones, and his broken foot. Yep, we need to bring back that curse to cleveland.

Well we are going need someone to take guidance to our big men. Chones knows the ropes, and I pretty sure he has some tricks up his sleeves to teach to our young bigs.

AV is going to need some help, and of course, Drew isn't always all there.

Sweet, Chones would be a good addition for our frontcourt development. Both AV and Gooden would flourish learning some post moves from him.

I got an autographed picture from this guy when he was walking around where I work, it was sweet meeting him.

I don't believe Chones has ever coached. I don't think he has anything that shows he would be a great coach. Just because he played doesn't mean he can coach.
I also think Roger Brown is the one who wrote about Chones and we know we can't believe everything he writes.

haha got to love that name, you always hear of the peeps named jim jones but never a jim chones.

Does he have any coaching experience at all? I'd much rather bring in someone more experienced and proven to be an assistant. He was a good player for us though. It would be cool to see him back with the Cavs imo.

Actually he coached Orange High School in Orange, Ohio. I lived there for awhile, I watched his triplets tear up the state for three years, they only lost to LeBron by 7 one season. The coaching thing was a joke by the way, I know that is not enough to warrant the position. Anyway, it was tight getting to see him every week, he was a nice guy. All 3 sons play D1 now, two at Colgate and one at Brown.
