I give props for this info to MuskieBuck from the Insiders board.

Hal Lebovitz-aka Hal LowBlow to some of us for his incessant downgrading of LBJ (did it again today) claims that the Cavs interim GM has been burning up the phone lines talking about possible trades to get back into the first round of the draft and has one deal lined up that they can make instantly on the day of the draft.

LowBlow's comment was that if the Cavs are unable to locate a PG via free agency or direct trade that they will want to get into the draft, which is PG rich-or at least combo guard rich-this year. In any event, LowBlow believe that the Cavs have a trade to get back into the draft lined up whenever they want to make it.

These cats at insiders really know what their talking about. But I refuse to post there cuz my opinions will just get flooded by the masterminds that do post there.

Anyways, I think that its great the cavs are really trying to get into the draft. The only thing that sucks is that we don't know where this pick will land (yet).

So I guess it is safe to look at nbadraft.net now and see what young guns are out there for us.

sounds good. i would wonder who we would be trading though

it's probably AV ,Sasha or luke. Those are the only 3 i can see that would possibly get us a 1st. Unless we trade Gooden or LBJ but that's just rape!

If it is a first round pick then it is Sasha, Jackson or Varejao for sure. Welsch will not land us a 1st round pick. Personally I see the other guys landing us a mid to late first round pick. Jackson, Pavlovic or Varejao will not get us in the lottery.

I'd have to think that it would be Gooden or Sasha going in order to get a #1. It might even take both to move up high enough to get a quality player.
Paul, D. Williams and Felton are all top 10 picks so it will take a lot to get up high enough to grab one.

It seems strange to me that the Cavs supposedly have these plans even though they don't have a new GM or coach in place yet. I wouldn't read too much into this until the new hires are made. What might want to be done now or was planned before the end of the season could change with the new GM and coach. They should be given authority to make these types of decisions.

I would be fine with trading Luke or Jiri for s pick or two. We should probably hold on to Jackson and AV though. Trading Drew for a higher draft pick or a lower one + a good role player could be an option as well.

Sucks... just the fact that we traded 1st rounders for Jiri and Sasha, now we're prolly going to get worse picks for them if we do. Jiri won't get us a pick until he does something. It's his contract year so he'll improve, but I'd rather give Luke the chance.

I'm sure everything any interim GM is doing now is nice, but I will wait to see what the permanent GM wants to do first. We do have a glut at that position though that those 3 guys play.

I read the article that this poster was talking about. Firstly, to criticize Hal Lebovitz is idiotic. He is, literally, a Hall of Fame writer and has the best sources in Cleveland by far. He hasn't been knocking LeBron, but simply saying that there are things that he needs to do to reach that next level. Of course, with Cleveland's paranoia, anything the least bit negative written about LBJ is sacrilige for some reason...

Anyhow... Brian Windhorst also reported that it wouldn't be hard at all for the Cavaliers to acquire a first round pick and that there was a deal on the table.

man i would love to get a chris paul or jarret jack. Now that would be awesome.

I don't think the Cavs have enough to offer to get up that high in the draft. At best they might be able to get a mid 1st rounder. I'm sure they could get a late #1 pretty easily although I'm not sure if there's anyone available who's worth giving up much at that point.
It''s going to be very tough and probably impossible to get up high enough in the draft to get one of the top PG's.
