Most vets don't feel threatened by rooks. I don't really care what line of bull Chris Grant used to convince Mayo to sign with us, he's just an example of the sort of player we could have taken a chance on and made part of our rebuilding plan or flipped for other assets.
My point was we had just drafted a two-guard with the fourth pick.
1. Why would we sign a guy that plays the same position and would hamper Waiters' development?
2. Why would Mayo want to come to a team that had just drafted a guy who plays his position? Sure, maybe veterans aren't threatened by rookies, but at best it seems like his position here would be a time-share.
3. Mayo has had incidents where he clashed with teammates and didn't appear to be a great locker room guy.
I just don't see the benefit for the Cavs or Mayo.
