Cleveland Browns 2020 Regular Season: What a Ride!

The issues I see with Baker aren’t system related IMO. Holding onto the ball too long, locking on WRs, missing easy yardage, taking too many risks across the field late, poor accuracy, etc. Those are all QB problems, not system problems. If a QB can’t make his way through a progression, it doesn’t matter what offense he’s in. Same for holding onto the ball. If he doesn’t or can’t correct those problems, it doesn’t matter what offense he plays in. He was doing it last year as well so it’s not new.

I hope Baker can overcome these issues but I have my doubts. I wasn’t expecting the Browns to come out and win yesterday, but I also didn’t expect us to be that bad on offense even with the caliber of team they we facing. Gut feeling tells me we get a few starts from Keenum this year even if Baker’s healthy.

Actual footage of Browns fans ten minutes into a home opener against the Bengals.

In my opinion, its totally acceptable to point to some players seemingly giving up on Sunday. Baker doesn't seem ready to play, and the defense looked defeated after the first long Ravens drive. Those are learning moments for a young team with a new offensive and defensive system, yet again.

Another question I'd love the NFL schedulers to answer for me some day... why do the Browns get Pittsburgh on the road to start every season until the Steelers begin to age and look average... then you give us the Ravens on the road? That's some legit Vince McMahon bullshit.

But demands to fire everyone after game one is just Angry Old Man Syndrome. Angrily firing everyone to stand alone in an empty factory swearing at NAFTA is the most self-defeating Cleveland cliche I can imagine.

Beat the Bengals, get some swag back. That's how you fix the Browns.

I think we're all in panic mode right now, but we've gotta push through it. We're 0-1, it's not the end of the world.

I'm not trying to make light of how awful we were - Baker will likely be dealt with if he can't improve. But we HAVE to give him a sizable portion of the season before making the franchise-altering move to bench him. It would be inconceivable to do anything right now as some have suggested.

We have big brains in the front office - they're well aware of the numbers behind everything. I suspect that OBJ is on a very short leash. But before we make any big moves, we have to be CERTAIN that it's what we need to do, and can't be done just because we got spanked by a top 2 AFC team. This year is our "let's see what we got year" in terms of player personnel. Maybe we have enough to reach the playoffs, maybe not - but either way we'll need to make informed decisions, not reactionary ones.

Are you serious? Or are you a professional troll?

Dude, you've been a member on this site for almost 14 years and average 0.1 posts per day, but yet you're in here going ape shit at people about the Browns. Like we can control the fact they suck?! Go root for the Bills like you said. Leave us to be miserable by the "inept, loser Browns".

We need to do more than just win. Baker needs to light it up. If he looks pedestrian and we still win his ass is still in the jackpot.

I'm sure there's a joke to be made about there being more fight in this thread then the team showed yesterday. Somethin somethin.

Yeah, I care way more about playing well than I do simply winning the game. This team isn't winning more than a few games regardless. Being slightly less shitty isn't the goal.

While I did not think Baker looked good at all, he had a few flashes when the offense had a rhythm. I am not ready to write him off yet, I really think Baker is a QB who needs to be in a system where their is a flow to the offense. He is not a QB that can be plugged into everything system. I also think OBJ is a bad fit for this team, he needs to have his catches ans targets to stay happy and be productive. Once we tried to force feed OBJ the entire offense seemed to stall. To me the defense was more of a worry then the offense, there was so little pass rush it seemed and many blown assignments. Now part of that is probably because of the injury's we have on defense, but it did not look like we had a game plan.

So who takes over for parkey?

I'm sorry, 6 weeks of practice.

I'd settle for decent improvement and the team looks good. This team isn't built to see Baker look like Aaron Rodgers. He just needs to be Kirk Cousins.
