Cleveland Browns 2021 Regular Season: RIP

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I think this is about as close to a must win in week 7 as you’re going to get

if we lose I think the season gets away from us with how good the division is.

with no Chunt I don’t think we should be favored. Desperately Need Chubb to return

We can’t drop to 3-4, relative to our injury report and have a very realistic chance at even the playoffs.

Currently 10 teams in the AFC are 3-3 or better and we’ve already lost to 2 of them (KC, LAC). We can’t lose to another one IMO. It would force us to finish 1 game better than effectively 50% of the possible wild card teams, not having a H2H tie breaker.

If our tackles don't return this week it will be Hance and Hudson against Von Miller and Bradley Chubb....

And another week of Stefanaski protecting an injured Mayfield with a severely hampered gameplan.

Isn’t Chubb on ir?

With our current injuries and record, I think we are done for the season.

It's a bummer, but throwing in Keenum and letting Mayfield heal is probably the best route. We just got bit by the injury bug this year. It happens. Maybe if these guys sit a bit we can slide into the playoffs, but I'm doubtful at this point.

The schedule kind of has us over a barrel right now, which is the biggest problem.

The game to rest was the Cardinals game, as it really had no playoff implications for us, other than overall win %.

The next 3 weeks are:

Broncos - (3-3)
Bengals - (4-2)
Steelers - (3-3)

That represents 3 of the 9 teams who are .500 or better right now, that we will be fighting for a wild card. We have already lost to LAC and KC, one of which will be a WC team IMO.

We can't afford to lose AFC games and definitely can't afford to lose more head to head tie breakers, in the event it comes to that at season's end.

Agreed, but at this point resting one game wouldn't have done it. Mayfield needs to take some time if he can come back at all. We are risking seriously injuring him and messing him up for good. Same can be said for a number of other guys. It is what it is unfortunately.

I think he already said the labrum was completely torn prior to last week. At that point, probably just monitoring joint stability. I guess it is technically possible he could do something long term but from everything being said, it is really unlikely.

The only argument for rest, in Baker's case......probably would have been if the Browns were 6-0 and it was a very tiny tear that could heal on its' own in a few weeks.

If his shoulder already needs surgery to repair it, at this point it is merely about monitoring it each week and managing the pain. Rest won't really help him, given as soon as he does even the slightest thing wrong, the pain will just be back.

what is very frustrating is going into this year the Browns were supposed to have had the easiest schedule in the league.

Instead they will basically go their first 9 games playing nothing but other playoff teams (expect the texans)

Did anyone actually think, on paper that this schedule was easy, outside of NFC North?

I swear i saw that after the KC game (week 1) the browns had one of the easiest schedules left.

Well, no one thought the Cardinals would be undefeated at this point in the season. The Chargers were still just potential with question marks, and the Broncos + Bengals weren't expected to be doing this well.

Then you got the Steelers somehow hanging around, and the Ravens being the luckiest damn team in the league during the games. It's like.... everything that could've possibly gone wrong for us has gone wrong. REGARDLESS, if we win the Chargers game we're at 4-2 with a conference win and sitting well despite the injuries.

I'm not sure what to make of this season and what will happen moving forward.

They did.......but that is always kind of a volatile stat, relative to year to year performance.

I believe they base it on last years' records, which changes so much in the NFL.

Relative to the first 6 weeks of the season, the Browns now have the 3rd hardest schedule.

Which is news, I'm sure, everyone wants to hear.
