You can tell how much indifference they have for Cleveland when they pass up an easy story like that. Lebron playing in Cleveland should sell itself

Gotta laugh when I'm on sports websites and see articles like "The 15 Best Match-Ups from the NBA Schedule Release." Like, everyone knows going in that these teams all play each other at least twice over the course of a season. Suddenly, a day of the week or holiday makes it more interesting? :chuckle:

might have to book a trip to New York in November if I can convince a few mates and see the cavs at MSG twice in a week! Real chance of two wins too

Was surprised too - I guess they only care about LA vs LA

Looking at the schedule for the first 20 games, besides the Bucks and Sixers it is an easier schedule than the rest of the year. We can use it to get experience and gain confidence.

Sixers weirdly had trouble with Cedi and Collin last year. TT was decent on Emiid. I think the Sixers have some major matchup issues even though they have can create matchup issues of their own.

It will definitely be different this year where their lineup is focused on all height but I think we can beat them with speed. Really up to Simmons if he develops that 3 - otherwise I feel their team will fall short. As much as I hate Boston, I expect Tatum to have a great year - their players will fit better.

It's going to be exciting to see how the East shakes out. Everyone expects the Nets to take a step forward, but they may not if the cohesiveness they showed last year isn't there. Boston has turned back into more of a Stevens type of team. The question is whether Brown and Tatum were ruined by their early success and the resulting ego trip. I was really surprised watching Tatum last year. I thought it seemed like he won the championship with the way he turned into a chucker and his long 2's were embarrasing.

Sixers are a real wild card. We expect them to just get better and better, but we have 2 years where Simmons has almost been a liability because of his inability to shoot. I mean, we point to his athleticism and defense, but damn if Giannis didn't get punked too. We saw it in 2007 with Lebron. They dared him to shoot and he couldn't overcome it even with his IQ and being at his peak. Lebron bringing that 3pt% up is not often talked about, but it made him into a guy you couldn't go under the screen on, and it made him unstoppable even as his athleticism wasn't quite what it was in 2007-2009.

It has been talked about for years and years, but the era of guys who can't shoot is seemingly completely over and you cannot win without it. The percentages say so.

Your last paragraph nailed it. It really comes down to shooting and the fact you made the thread about who will lead in 3pt shooting as well for our team. Basketball is really about being a threat from the perimeter. That is why stars on teams who excel are stars who can shoot outside. That is how Lebron got better during his career which you mentioned.

I really like our team’s potential.

Sixers had trouble with fast scoring PGs all season. Brett Brown was very worried about Collin before the second home game against Cleveland (the first was the first home loss of the season for Philly). He made Collin the #1 item on the scouting report, but Sexton still torched them.

Well, it's time to put my money where my mouth is. I bought tickets for the home opener against Indiana.
Really looking forward to seeing how the kids play under Beilein.
For some reason, I'm cautiously optimistic.

If he gets them to play the right way, it will be fun and they will be in games. There were actually a lot of games they blew in the 4th last year. They were too young and didn't know how to finish. I expect that is still going to be a major issue, but if they can stay in a lot of games and compete, I will be happy.
