I watched him at Marquette, he was the only recruit to stay committed Marquette following Buzz Williams departure for Virginia Tech. Sandy looked like he had a lot of potential, and projected as a high level 3 & D guy, but he was physically weak, had very low confidence on the floor and would disappear for games at a time. As a result Coach Wojo steadily cut his minutes. Did not watch him at UW-Green bay. His sister, Natisha Heideman, was a tremendous shooter/scorer for Marquette's women and was drafted by the WNBA this year.
That's fine but players change.
A lot of times, at this level (transitioning from college to the NBA) guys with physical talent cannot make it because of a variety of factors including system, coaching changes, lack of confidence, etc.
I know next to nothing about about him other than some resume items but things do stand out to me:
1. All-Horizon 1st team - It's a good league and it produces NBA players. Bad players do not get all league honors in it. Typically, 1-2 have come out of that league in each draft.....including Hayward, McKinnie, Forbes, etc.
2. Led his team in all major stat categories......and the team had a winning record. Seems like a really well rounded wing player.
3. He seemed to play well against the bigger schools on their schedule.....MSU, Oregon, Iowa, Creighton.
4. Top 100 HS recruit, so he clearly had / has talent.
5. Looks like he's comfortable attacking at all 3 levels.
6. He actually has defensive highlights.
Give him a chance.....who cares why he left Marquette.
His body movements remind me of Iggy. Just his cadence, gait, etc.
