Cleveland Indians 2018-2019 Offseason Outlook

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Reyes is an MLB outfielder...and I'm not a Renfroe fan one bit.

And the Indians aren't going to get 2 solid MLB pieces on top of 2 top 100 prospects in a deal for Kluber or Bauer...they'll never be traded if that's what the Indians want.

They should hold then. We're talking about a 2-time Cy Young winner locked up on a reasonable deal in a market where few to none legitimate aces are available. I need more than a few guys like Franmil Reyes or Manuel Margot.

Agree...why I think the most realistic trade is one that doesn’t happen, as mentioned before.

But I’m also very high on Reyes’ hitting future, especially with him being something we don’t really have.

I think they sign either a solid 3B or a solid OF, take a flier on a reclamation guy or older guy at the spot they don’t grab on a 1 year deal, and bring back Perez and Allen on 1 year deals and call it an off-season.

At this point I’d be surprised if Kluber is traded. Think the only way they cave as of right now, if we are to believe the interested teams, is if Bellinger all of a sudden gets involved.

Agree 100%, and I hope this is the route they go. See if any of your internal options step up and then do work at the trade deadline.

Martin returning to form will be huge, cause I think he (even though I wouldn’t like it) would slide into the top 3 of the lineup (can see it being Lindor, Martin, Ramirez) as we stand today. And I’m excited to see Bauers. His ABs are going to look a lot like Santana’s, which will piss a lot of opposing pitchers off and a lot of Indians fans as well apparently.

I personally want Allen to get a chance to be an everyday player. His 2nd half last year was impressive, and he’s somewhat following his minor league trends at the MLB level, which excites me.

But I personally would love a Marwin Gonzalez, Josh Harrison/Yangervis Solarte/Derek Dietrich, Oliver Perez, Cody Allen finish to the winter.

SS - Lindor
LF - Gonzalez
3B - Ramirez
1B - Santana
DH - Bauers
2B - Kipnis
CF - Martin
RF - Allen
C - Perez/Plawecki

I’d be good with that lineup. Top 4 are all switch hitters. Puts them in position to be flexible to go after someone at the deadline based on production from Bauers, Kipnis, and Allen.

Gonzalez has some legs, based on some things I’ve heard. He’s a Tito wetdream with his position flexibility. Market is dropping him towards the Indians level as well.

So, its foolish to hold it as truth of ANYTHING, as he's giving it to move on with things, but yet it can have value....which is it?

Or, should be ignored yet listened to when you, or someone you agree with, believes it should be?

lol. Whatever dude.

It's a comment. It exists. Due to the time and manner it was given, it would be difficult to argue that it's an absolute truth of anything. Is this really that hard to follow?

But, just ignore that. It's academic at this point. Can we at least agree that Kipnis's comment is certainly not an absolute truth of something that isn't even contained in that comment?

What about batting Santana leadoff? Using ZiPS, only Ramirez is expected to have a higher OBP (slightly) and we know Carlos still walks a ton. If you can sign a LF that slides into the 2 hole, say Adam Jones, you could run out a lineup like this:

S-1B-Santana
R-LF-Jones
S-SS-Lindor
S-3B-Ramirez
L-DH-Bauers
P-RF-Naquin/Luplow
L-2B-Kipnis
R-C-Perez
L-CF-Martin

I'd really like to see Lindor and Ramirez get more RBI opportunities, and pushing them down to the middle of the order would help that happen.

I am aware Reyes is an outfielder. Reyes profiles as a DH and I want an outfielder. I don't particularly like Renfroe or Margot either. I would only trade Kluber for what we need. I see the Padre outfielder as a secondary piece in an Kluber deal.

Due to it’s timing, it’s likely an excited utterance and holds greater value than a statement made three days later that would be prepared.
This is the opposite of you dismissive assessment.
We disagree, it’s time to move on.

I'm encouraged to read this since everything else that's been reported has indicated the Indians won't be spending virtually any money in free agency. Pluto reported last week that they won't be signing "a big league outfielder."

Indians never leak to the media. Ever. Any media members rumors or insights on plans they have are coming from another team or a 2nd hand source, not from the organization.

The Indians are doing exactly what they’ve done the last few offseasons. Playing out the market and waiting for price tags to fall, and they’re falling.

Ignore argument, "we disagree, move on."

If you're refusing to hold a conversation from any point of rational discourse, that's not a "move on bro" that's a "why are you here"?

Glad to see you back and better than ever. Cavs section is dying, this section needs you, and you aren't a Browns fan so you can't enjoy life with us over there.

I am. Your editorializing is the issue. “From any point of rational discourse” presupposes that your “point of view” is the only rational opinion.

I’m simply not adhering to your preset one sided standard.

Like I said, it’s time to move on.
