Cleveland Indians End of Season Game Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I'm reallly not understanding the love affair with a 30 year old with no real defensive position (1B maybe?) who is coming off a career year in which his average is 50 points over his career average and his OPS almost 200 points over. Seems like an obvious candidate for an immediate decline, but folks are salivating over giving him a multiyear deal. He seems like the ideal FA to stay away from and let someone else make the mistake of committing big dollars to someone like that, and the last person a young team like the Tribe should be blowing their limited resources on. Maybe he is having a late career surge, I don't know- but spare me that he is suddenly being given a chance- he was given a chance last year with the Angels when he played in more games than this year. And he did this in one of the best hitters' parks in baseball. I just don't see how he isn't a pretty obvious candidate for a career year, and I don't see why his career numbers at his age would warrant fans falling over themselves to see him signed. If he somehow ends up facing a one year deal, sure I would welcome the chance- but that is not the probably course for him and I don't see why the Tribe needs to pay him multiple years for 110 games of productivity he provided the Texas Rangers.
