For those who maybe grew up here and are no longer here this is the best winter I've ever experienced in 35 years. There's barely been any snow and there have been plenty days where you can wear shorts. What gives?

What gives? I can only imagine why we have a very mild winter.

I wonder if anything has been going on for a while and has been a topic of discussion for a large part of our lifetimes... something... something to explain this changing climate...

Nope, can't think of anything. Must be some Groundhog Day magic. Fucking Phil.

Over the last few winters I have noticed we have had more severe winter storms. Storms that have produced a lot of snow in a short period of time. Outside of those isolated storms, we have had generally mild winters that has melted the snow on the ground relatively quickly.

This is where I sound old, but I remember having snow on the ground from late November/early December until late February/early March. The ground was always white. Now outside of those isolated storms, we generally see the dead grass and a muddy mess until spring.

This is the most obvious example locally of climate change to me.

The climate is not changing. Even if it was, humans don’t have anything to do with it. Even if we did, we don’t need to change anything we’re doing because it knows how to fix itself. And even if we did, it’s the big corporations, and not us individuals that need to make the changes. And even if we could, it’s already too late. Even if it wasn’t, the experts- who’s opinions are questionable to begin with- will figure it out. And even if they had solutions, I don’t like them.

Yeah as a kid in the 90s there was snow every Christmas except maybe 1, and was snow until April for sure.

I noticed this too. Like we use to get a couple inches at a time all through out the winter but the big storms were rare. Then it turn to big storms that dump huge amounts then not much in-between.

No one had snowblowers in my neighborhood before. Either you got it plowed or you just shoveled. Alot of the people who shoveled have turn to snowblowers now. Some people even keep a snowblower as a backup to their plow service because the plow services can't keep up when a big storm happens.

I haven't taken out my snowblower this year. I'm waiting on the big storms to come. I fully expect that we will get a couple big storms in March and April.

I’m still farting so I’m part of the problem too. Is it better for the environment if I light them or not?

I haven’t lived in northeast Ohio for almost 2 decades. I remember being able to walk on Lake Erie at times after it would freeze over. Is there still that opportunity, or has that changed in the last several years?

Back in the day it was possible to walk on the Cuyahoga River in midsummer.

There is basically zero ice coverage on Lake Erie right now. I think it peaked at around 23% this season. The lack of ice coverage is why Buffalo has been hit with such bad storms this year. Most of their snow has been generated by lake effect.

Just saw on the local news weather that Cleveland has gotten 17" of snow this season and the average should be 47" by now. Lowest amount in a season in record history is 31" if we don't start getting snow we will probably beat it.

Buffalo, three hours east has had record high snowfalls. Snow amounts always vary tremendously along the lake. The temperatures have been nice, though. The ice free lake means a good chance of March snows. I always get a kick when Cleveland talks about snowfree winters while many of the surrounding counties still get buried.
