Contractually Obligated: Alfonzo McKinnie

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I mean or we could have signed literally anyone from the GLeague and they would likely have more upside. Or maybe sign the drunk guy in the 2nd row who also likely has more upside. Him knowing the playbook means nothing to me. Dude is trash.

I think they just want someone who can jump into the rotation right away. They also want the flexibility to take on players are the deadline and might have to take multiple players back when they move Love or any of the other expirings.

Beilein was putting 3 guard lineups out there the other night with Delly, Knight, and Garland. Exum probably can play SF but I'm not sure they want to risk putting too many minute or load on him yet.

It's more about trying to keep our tradable players playing in their natural position so they can look good till the trade deadline. Mckinnie can go out there and make sure Beilein isn't over extending Love or playing Henson at PF or Knight at SF.

Considering they also signed Cook makes it even worse that they brought McKinnie back. Yeah Cook can't shoot which I get but he still has upside and can play SF/PF in a pinch. To me it's a waste of resources to keep Mckinnie. I stand by my comment the drunk guy in the 2nd row likely has more upside.

They waived Cook 3 days ago at the same time they waived Mckinnie.

Edit: nevermind, I didn't realize they brought back both of them. The report I saw was just Mckinnie.

Cook is also back on a 10 day.

Randolph waived, I think this was the thread we were having a discussion about him

Good He's a scrub. Hopefully they found a decent young talent to add on a two way. I think the 24th is last day to sign a 2 way.

Signed Matt Mooney on a two way. Personally like this one.

I really like Mckinnie as an end of the rotation guy. Less than 2 mil per year is a team friendly deal.

This is the type of deal I want the Cavs to be aiming for. Worst case, McKinnie is a solid 9th-12th guy in your rotation for four years and he basically makes the vet minimum.

Best case, he builds value as a good defensive wing and some team offers real assets to get him.

We are just so thin on the wing. A guy that can jump in and play 2 and 3 at a moments notice and not take too many shots is valuable. It lets Porter play the 2 as well, which is where he is going to have the biggest advantage and can best work on his playmaking.

He helps defensively too, which this team must get better in that area. Super tradeable in the event any opportunity pops up.

This is the worst case scenario.

Koby: "want a replacement-level wing player for a 2nd rounder that never conveys?"
Any other GM: "Yes I do"

I just like the moves Koby is making, because it is focused on supporting the development of our young guys.

It seems a low-risk deal for the Cavs. Chris Fedor of Cleveland.com reported it "includes a little more than $600,000 guaranteed for the remainder of this season," with the final three years of the deal non-guaranteed. The $1.6 million average the deal pays yearly is also the league minimum.

So my estimates are that Alphonso got about $2.5 this between this contract and his previous waived contract and his 10 day contracts if he got the full min salary payout this year.

If it was a prorated min salary for this year, then I'm not sure how the numbers work out.
