The Falcons overhauled their safety position Friday, trading for Cleveland's Chris Crocker only hours after reaching terms with free agent safety Lawyer Milloy.

Soon after Milloy's deal was completed, the Falcons traded their fourth-round pick in the April 29-30 draft to Cleveland for Crocker, a three-year veteran. Whereas Milloy will be used in more of a run-stopping role, Crocker will be more of the cover safety who also sets the defense -- the role played by Keion Carpenter last season.

Crocker started all 16 games for the Browns last season, registering 81 tackles, two interceptions and two sacks.

I dunno about this, I personally liked Crocker... But they must be high on Jones and Pool...

Another pick! Awesome, Pool Jones and Russel got this ish on lock for a while, plus I heard Bodden and Baxter will be the top 2 CB's and Cutch might play some SS.

Umm, I think Baxter was actually going to see a few looks at safety, not McCuteon. Baxter has more size and is more versatile.

wow good find pip

I dont really mind this trade crocker was okay. Definately means pool just shot up on the depth chart.

Yep, I agree with you H-Bomb.... Pool is the key here.. I'm hoping (like Chaun Thompson) Pool progresses with another year within this system... I read the other day where a couple scouts said if Pool would have stayed at Oklahoma for his senior season, he would've more than likely been a top 20 pick in this upcoming draft..

I'm not looking for a Polamalu type of leap like he did in his 2nd season, but defintely some improved play from Mr. Pool

I'd love to see us package those two 5'ths for an early 4th and those two 4th's for an early third

So what we got 2-4th's, 2-5th's?

I wonder if were trying to pile up some ammo to move up?

but yeah Pip that Pool selection came outta nowhere on draft day but Savage basicly said everything you stated already as to why he took him.

I'm curious to see how Jones does this year, 2nd year coming off his acl injury

Great deal. Crocker wasnt a bad player, but we kinda have depth and we can get a good player there.

Cutch nor Baxter are safties and neither will see time there. They are corners, neither are hitters enough to play the saftey position.

true mac but ill tell u pool is a hitter.i wanna see him and sean jones play together.i just dont like russell,i dont know how many times he got bulldozed by a RB.

Baxter is a hitter. There was some rumored talk earlier in this offseason about a possible switch to put him at safety. Baxter is one of the bigger corners in the league at 6-2 210... although I think he could play safety, i like him beeter at corner.

Bax is a hitter, but he is a very good corner, why move him from there? Thats what Im saying with him. He could play there, but there's no reason to take him away from his strength.

But I thought there was no such thing as a shut down corner. :chuckles:

When did I say he was one?

Your reading abilities are about on par with rlaws these days.

First off it was a joke, notice the smile after the comment. Dont take everything so offensive, settle down.
