Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I'm not sure if you're joking, half-joking, or being serious. I'm not trying to be an ass when I say that either.

My immediate reaction when I read his post was the same as what you typed, but if the grid went down for an extended period of time today (I'm talking like more than 5 years), wouldn't paper currency lose all of its value anyway? I don't think it'd take more than about 6 months for society to fall into an economy based solely on goods and services.

Maybe I'm pessimistic in that regard.

6 months? I think you're being wildly optimistic.

God help anyone without a gun after 6 days...

Time to get to the Island...

Remember when the power went out all along the Eastern seaboard? When shit like that happens, I was always raised to expect it to last .. indefinitely..

Currency during the apocalypse will probably be food, medicine, drugs and sex.

And guns.

What do you have in your gun safe for that eventuality?

I have a civvie M4. Trajicon reflexive holosight with a nice flip-magnifier. Thinking of adding the Steyr AUG. For Die Hard reasons.

Scoped Swedish Mauser for the long stuff. Thinking of getting a Saiga-12.

HK P2000 compact in .40. Thinking of purchasing a government 1911 and adding mammoth ivory scales.

Yeah? Well I have nothing... :apologetic:

I'll be buying something when the gf and I buy our first place later this spring/summer. Probably a Glock 17, but I need to fire it more first. I really liked the 19 I fired, but it might just be a tad small for my hands.

So yeah, I'll be clearly your equal in this scenario :chuckle:

How much ammo do you normally keep on hand for each gun?

Most of my guns I would probably leave behind in that situation. I'd probably only haul the guns that take 5.56 and 9mm. Those rounds always go on sale in bulk quantities so I have quite a stash.

I keep five magazines loaded for the M4. And a box of spare ammo.

I only keep around 50 rounds for the Swedish Mauser. It is a special round, not the 8mm standard on German guns, and costs more.

I only keep a box of sidearm ammunition.

This is just insane at this point....

$14,500.

When is this bubble bursting?

Maaaaax....

What type of guns do you have? We need to share gun porn.

None...but my wife and kids have a couple in the safe. :chuckle:

Anything noteworthy or exciting, like a Sturmgewehr 44 or tommy gun?

No, as boring as you can get. :(
But my best bud lives nearby and has a decent arsenal and wants to come to my house when the SHTF...so I'm blindly counting on him. I have Burkey water purifiers and generator. I just hope he doesn't shoot me and take over my water sales enterprise. The kids know to shoot him if he gets squirrelly. :chuckle:

Two of my Army buddies and I had a plan in the event the Cascadia quake hit.

We would hunker down at my place because it has double-gates behind tall steel fences, a generator, and a roof for growing a garden and gathering rain-water.

A quake would mean Seattle would be completely isolated for at least 10 days. In that time, all those hipsters would quickly lose their notions of pacifism and cool broness. Civilization breaks down quickly.
