like i mentioned in the other thread. did you guys watch what he did for seattle in the playoffs ?

he played like a 10 year vet. .. i don't believe he was drafted, and doesn't that mean that he's on a one year deal ?

i would strongly consider giving him a short term contract.. he's one of those do everything types.. plus he was knocking down 3's during that sonics vs spurs second round matchup.

I think Seattle were keen to keep him around. We should not really chase him hard as he plays a position (SF) that we are already stocked up in. Definately worth the look, but not a priority.

It's an interesting idea. I saw him a good deal toward the end of the season and during the playoffs. He's very gifted athletically compared to all of our wingmen save Lebron. He showed surprising, to me at least, shooting ability, and it looks like he can defend as well. All that said, we need a knock-down shooter and that's not Wilkins. But I think Karma's right. Based on his late-season showing my guess is that Seattle will try hard to keep him.

I like Wilkens. He looks like he will be a decent player down the long run. It would definatly be nice to have him on our bench, but since we have Luke Jackson, and (or) Jiri and Sasha, it doesn't seem like a possibility.

To add to that, with LeBron clocking in for 40+ minutes a game, it just wouldn't work.

Infante is right--the Cavs would have to trade someone in order to realisticly go after Wilkins.
With that said he'd be a welcome addition to any team.
He's a defense 1st player, a hard worker, and a player who wants to get better.

The Cavs already have some young talented players at the wing positions. Wilkins has some upside but I'd rather have the Cavs focus their attention at other spots where help is need much more.
With LeBron and hopefully a top FA SG there really aren't many minutes left and Jackson, Pavlovic and Newble can fill those spots fine and provide depth.

i see what your're saying.. and by no means am i saying target him 1,2,3- but i really liked what i saw from that kid.. the confidence was there as a rookie. (one that nobody really knew of)

he reminds me of one of those players like the solid teams get when they are in the playoffs every year- but yet they get a steal in the draft..
such as the spurs- getting parker in the later 1st rd, and ginobil in round 2 or the pistons getting tayshaun in the middle of the draft.

now i'm not trying to compare wilkins with those established stars. but he just reminds me of that type of player ( A steal) .

i would prefer to have him over both sasha and newble (especially newble) the kid plays good "d" and he can score, and rebound.
sasha and ira can do one but not the other. (although i want to see a bit more of sasha)

with that said-- i can't wait for luke to get out on the court with a healthy back, i think he's going to be a nice addition...

but you can never have too much depth.... and if they're good, the coach will find them minutes..
