Exaggeration really isn't going to convince people of your point.

I fail to see how "Bang, bang, bang" is superior to "In your face!" or any other generic thing announcers say.
Because bang bang bang is reserved for a cluth jump shot. In your face sounds like he completely hates the opposition and is putting them down. How about just yelling out something out of excitement that doesnt make you sound like a complete homer. Thats my problem with Fred and a lot of other commentators out there.

and pip, i don't see whats so funny other than maybe you like it when tyguy gets told.

I just thought that is was repetitive onomatopoeia. I didn't realize it was "reserved" for certain occasions. And if "in your face" is an expression of pure hatred...I have offended many people.

Come on...all this stuff is such a reach. "In your face" and "Take that" are not homeristic things to say. "Drew Gooden is a Top 10 forward in this league" is a homer thing to say. "There is no way Lebron could have fouled on that play" a homertastic thing to say. "In your face" is just bland in equal measure with "Boom, boom, boom" or whatever.

If these phrases are reserved for specific occurences, then "Flight #23 coming out of the attic/rafters" is reserved for the nonsensical area of sports. I have never seen any sort of flight come out of an attic and/or rafters. I have seen flights come out of the clouds and I have seen people come out of the attic...but never a flight come out of an attic/rafters.
