I'm still trying to wrap my brain around the fact this guy had a 9 second call, with no pressure, in the last 5 minutes of a close playoff game.

Just no focus.
Yyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyep! That's our Darius. And that was at the point where the outcome of the game was on a knife's edge. He helped tip it the wrong way.

I've been hard on Darius all year. In the last game, and even in this one, he was fantastic. Moving off ball better than ever, attacking Wagner, Paolo, especially WCJ, with advantage. The kind of aggression we've been begging for.

In the fourth quarter, regression to the flaws that have frustrated us all year. A turnover out of bounds. Missed opportunities against switches. An 8-second violation. No box-out on Cole Anthony.

I'm sympathetic. He played a lot of minutes. The next leading scorer was Max with 10. After that, Okoro with 4. They didn't do enough, and Mobley didn't either. But Garland has greater expectations and responsibilities.

Maybe he'll grow through and beyond this with better coaching or a change of scenery. But with Mitchell in winning mode, I just don't believe Garland has it in him right now. It's a shame, because the potential is there.

A lot of these brain dead turnovers are from him looking to pass instead of score, it's like he turns into brick0r0 offensively.

I thought he wore out. Bickerstaff should know by now 40+ minutes Garland tires, he becomes passive and looks to others. Okoro is not that guy.

JB isn't coaching material. A legacy guy.

I saw the 8 second violation coming, every single trip up in the fourth it felt like we weren’t coming across the line until 16 seconds. Uncalled for. If he’s that tired bring in levert.

I really don't think it was the pressure. He just sucks once he's gassed. And dude was clearly gassed mid way through the 4th quarter and JB refused to give him a breather in the 4th. Bring Sammy in for a couple minutes. Where was LeVert. Now if you want to say part of the pressure is playing 43 minutes and not getting a break in the 4th then sure.

Garland is not suited for more than 36mpg, after that exhaustion sets in and he makes bonehead plays and can't close a game. It's all too clear. He gets more beat up over a game than the average player due to his shrimpy frame that can't take the hits like others can. Again this is an indictment on JB not knowing his personnel.

I thought Darius played an absolutely great game. but when it mattered most, his head wasn't where it needed to be and that's where the game turned against us in crunch time. He's still maturing, and he isn't there yet.
Maturing? How long do we wait for him to mature though? This is his 5th year in the league

Some of Garlands struggles in the 4th quarters are so often a product of trying to make a great play play instead of a good play.

I recall him trying to throw these perfect oops to or lobs to guys like Allen... or he dribbles around and tries to make a perfect pass after jumping in the air. Or worse.. he dribbles the air out of the ball since he was waiting for a perfect situation to develop.

Some of that is on coaching, because there's a lack of schemes and play designs but Garland sometimes reminds me of a pitcher late in the game who just needs to throw strikes and he's nibbling trying to throw a perfect pitch.

Then he's not suited to be paid the money Koby gave him. So who is really to blame?

If a guy of his caliber, can't play over 36 minutes in a playoff game. It speaks more to Garland than anything.

Where is JBB suppose to turn? Levert? Yikes....

Man, Garland is still getting so much of pass. We really are going to blame JBB, for Garland's boneheaded decisions? JBB is at fault for that? Really?

We can blame JBB for a lot of things, but I'm sorry, Garland is no longer an inexperienced young player.

He literally had a turnover, where he loses control of his dribble, with no resistance from the defense. Like, wtf, is that. He can't get across half court, within 8 seconds, in a decisive game.

Mitchell is out the gasping for air, you don't see these dumb ass mistakes.

Garland's dumb ass decisions, is not one's fault, but Garland.

I still can't fault Garland too much because he was excellent the first 3 quarters. We needed literally anyone else to step up besides him and Mitchell and no one did.
