He definitely chases his shot first and who can blame him? He's clearly much better than most of the teams he faced and has a money jumper. Super comfy on the pull-ups and will kill teams if they go under screens. He moves like as if he isn't dribbling, the ball is an extension of him, a very good sign.

Very reminiscent of a recent Cavs PG. Biggest difference is #2 could be the greatest finishing PG of all time.
From some of the stuff his former coaches and Vanderbilt coaches addressed, it seems that he was asked to score first at Vanderbilt because they needed it. The team went 0-18 in the SEC without him.

On the high school circuit, he was a much more active facilitator.

Garland can pass and find the open man. He does not have tunnel vision. There are times he forces it into bad play but he was more to play with shoot first especially with the players he was with at Vanderbilt.

He sees guys cutting and sees where he can initiate through the pick and roll or backside cut.

I am not saying he is a player who gets 10 assists but his play can help to create shots for him and his team.

Very excited for him.

So now that's things have died down a bit

This was Collin Sexton's special Bobblehead last year

I like his skillset based on the limited information we have on Darius. It is difficult to gauge exactly where he falls as a prospect, though. This is one of those high ceiling swing for the fences. The NBA pedigree also never hurts.

What we can get a better feel for is the person. And I like the kid a lot. I found this particular video the most informative and revealing about the type of guy we are getting ... he seems to get along with just about everyone.

Sixers had to ensure the tank man. Thats why they either took busts or red shirt players year after year. Sam Hinikie died for them to be a 2nd round exit.

better than we'll be for next 15 years.

better than we'll be for next 15 years.

Really don't know what the future holds. If it takes 15 years to make it to the 2nd round of the playoffs again then its sad times though.

Been thinking about this since drafting garland.

Is the talent gap between him and culver that great to warrant picking him? It seems that culver was a better fit with sexton and a top 5 prospect to boot. Is garland that much better player having just played 5 games in college with questions on durability, size, and play making ability?

My personal answer, he was drafted solely because he was a Rich Paul client.

Watch Garlands jump shot then watch Culvers... one has an incredible compact quick release the other will struggle to get his off at the NBA level because of how slow it is

He definitely looks like he has a more natural passing awareness than Sexton had in HS and college. Just an observation from highlight film though.

He was also definitely a late developer physically, he genuinely looked tiny in high school, so who knows what his true measurements are. I'm thinking 6'3" and maybe 180-90.

I think Garland has a much greater potential overall. Culver has a higher floor while Garland has a higher ceiling. Garland has a smooth shot and incredible range. There's a question about Culver's ability to consistently shoot from deep. I've seen several scouting reports that think Garland is a top 3 talent, some above Morant.

The Cavs could have had Culver. They clearly had Garland higher on their board. I would not be surprised if they ranked them: 1. Zion, 2. Barrett, 3. Garland, 4. Morant, 5. Hunter, 6. Culver.

I do like Culver quite a bit, but Garland is another fast guy. Think of putting Porter at the 3 and running with a small, fast lineup:

PG - Garland
SG - Sexton
SF- Porter
PF - Nwaba
C - Nance

Not the starters, but I could see a high speed lineup out there.
