Am I the only one who saw a thread titled "Decision Coming," created by Ben and got really excited? :(

Would just like to also mention that IPB also has an arcade mod, and there is a pretty good awards mod out there. "(inv) Awards 2.2.3"

Invision, Invision, Invision, and one more time, INVISION. SMF is really a terrible software. TERRIBLE. Trust me when I say that if you change to SMF, you will change back within the hour.

If you don't do Invision, however, do phpBB.

Yeah, I go to another forum that uses IPS and its pretty solid. Has pretty much all the features I like about RCF right now.

Is there any feature in any of these softwares where you can "tag" a poster so they get a notification that you mentioned them? It would obviously have to get disabled for someone like W&G/Max/Ben, but it seems like something that could be pretty useful in discussions..

This one does, I know for a fact. I'm sure IPB does. IPB has some of the best mods.

Xenforo gets my vote for a all the reasons I pm'ed you about 2 weeks ago. The more I dug into the law suit the less concerned I became. Hands down it has the best UI on the back end side. Cleaner than VB and less security issues, my offer to pay for the license still stands.

Is an example site, it is the largest ford mustang site on the net.

http://www.forum-software.org/ -That site might help you decide, and after looking at a bunch of demos; I think the one I liked the most was IP.Board... It also had the highest review.. (I know nothing about forum software- I just went on which one looked the best )

I like phpbb as a software engineer. Runs light, secure, stable and open source of course.

What would Adebisi do?

This is where your answer lies.

I appreciate the offers to give or buy licenses but we're not at that stage yet. A few things we will need with the new software is either a fantastic CMS or a working wordpress bridge which vb4 currently doesn't have. Its about time we have a front page and a blog.

I am not sure since I haven't used it in a while, but Invision has (or used to have) a feature in the Admin CP that let you create a forum-based homepage, and it would draw topics from the forum to use as news and such.
