Okay, so I have a young man that I want to help out… About 2 years ago I met him in DC at the auto show. I was a director at the time with Aramark and he was a temp from an agency that one of my sales managers was using to help out with the show…

Good kid, hard worker, but was not able to apply that same focus in the class room (little older around 26 and a high school drop out)…I ended up getting him a permanent job so he can make full time money through the union but wanted to help him out with school. He basically told me he would handle his school but if he made a promise to get his GED and into a community college would I help him fix his teeth…. Basically he has his top 4 fronting teeth crooked— he has cavities and things like that but cosmetic wise he wants a great smile and it’s those top 4 that are in issue…

To make a long story even longer, the guy got his GED and is moving to Gainesville Florida to attend Sante Fe College 2 year college which is a gateway into the University of Florida….

So now I wanna do my part but literally today is the first day that I’m looking into our best options and how to get him the smile that he wants and deserves… I’ve seen some that are complete horrendous with oversize front teeth and things that look unnatural… Essentially I wanna get this kid a nice, white, straight smile that he can be confident with and continue his journey of success that he’s on…

So is anyone really familiar with veneers or have any suggestions ? I know braces is not an option cause he has some kind of bone structure issue where if they were to get him braces they would have to literally break part of his jaw bone and I’m not going through with all that….

I have nothing helpful to add, just want to say that's pretty cool of you to take someone under your wing like that.

I’ve had a veneer about forty years ago and Invisalign twenty years ago. Spent a lot of money on my teeth but go through a lot of care daily due to periodontal disease and now my teeth are really great (I also had a upper gap). Probably will replace the veneer later this year.

Best advice I can give is to have him go to at least two cosmetic dentists with good reputations and get proposals. The technology today is so much better than years ago but every patient is different so leave it to the experts. They can show you how it will look when completed. Then just compare plans, results, costs etc and go.

Teeth and gums are so important to health and confidence. Great thing you are doing.

Good luck!
