Diet and Workout Routines

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
If you just want to tone:

Work out with lighter weight and more reps per sets to lose weight. Every other day, do just cardio. As far as low carb goes, keep it simple - it's really not that bad if you stop at the grocery store a few times a week and buy the reduced price (ie - old!) meat that they have. Just make sure your body is still going through ketosis and you'll find that you can do low-carb wraps with beef, chicken, lettuce, cheese, etc... I found light fruit punch from Krogers (0 carbs!) to be pretty good. For my coffee, I use Stevia. If it doesn't taste like it is sugary, that's because you gave up in 3 days, give it a week. You can eat as many calories as you want while you are doing this. In other words, eat steak, chicken, burgers, greesey stuff, etc. If you gave up in 3 days, just get some doritos and enjoy.

And I am not affiliated with it other than using the site, JEFIT works great. You need a routine that you can follow and they make it easy. Not too mention, in a few weeks, you'll see the difference as the site charts your progress. It makes for some great motivation.

Wasn't what I asked for help on, was just trying to help a fellow RCF'r.

I know next to nothing about this kind of stuff but I just wanted to drop some knowledge that you don't necessarily need to go low-carb to lose weight. It works for most people so most programs recommend it, but as long as you keep the cals down you can eat whole-wheat carbs (reasonably) and lose weight. Doesn't mean you can pizza it up, but some oatmeal and a sandwhich isn't going to kill you. I know I can't go ultra low-crab for more than a few days before the hunger pangs set in, and I just monitored the overall intake and still lost weight.

Question - for losing fat, is it best to do 3 days weight training and 3 days cardio or all 6 days weight training? Don't really care about losing muscle, but I know that lifting weights is supposed to burn more cals overall.

i would do cardio. 3 days weight training, if you do it well, is enough. youre going to burn more doing cardio. more muscle will burn more fat just when you are resting, but cardio will burn off more fat.

Eff cardio. Totally not worth it. Strength training is just as good of a workout for your heart. And doing cardio while doing strength training just hurts your strength training progress.

Im 18 and never really worked out, but want to start and start gaining muscle. Any advice of what to do to start out?

Strength routine such as Practical Programming.

The BEST way to put on muscle.

I'm really wanting to lose a little lower stomach fat. I've started to run about 25-30 minutes a day on the tread, doing a little lifting just to keep the muscles there and then ending with 10 minutes in the sauna. Good plan? Or am I a giant pussy?

Seconded. These are the best programs out there for putting on size and gaining strength.

Your diet has the biggest impact on your lower stomach fat.

I figured as much and I've been eating pretty healthy minus the philly cheese steak I had a half hour ago:chuckles:. I guess I'll put more emphasis on the diet part.

you will find it hard to target specific fat loss as its impossible. Your best bet is to just lose body fat, generally to get rid of that part you will need to get below 10% but it varies with body type. For me the only time it happened was when i was down at 8%. Now i'm married, heeelllooo 12%!

Define healthy.

I never bothered to fuck with low carb diets. I just counted calories and worked out. Lost 25 pounds that way a couple years ago. It really wasn't hard, you just need to find something to keep you motivated. Now, I am not a huge carb guy anyways so it wasn't like I was eating ten slices of bread per day and a bucket of cereal and pasta.

Um, what? I guess it depends on what you want to do...if your goal is to build muscle cardio is counterproductive. If you want to burn fat, saying eff cardio is pretty retarded. You'll want to keep lifting heavy either way in order to retain that muscle that you do have, of course.

lol the most important thing to look at is the amount of calories youre at at the end of the day. thats a solid plan, youve got strength in the there and some cardio to speed up the calorie deficit. most important to look at how much youre eating

and actually, the trick is to finding a healthy way to eat your favorite foods. I make my own big macs... I just use ground turkey instead of beef, I make my own mac sauce out of fat free stuff and fake sugar, use high fiber bread etc....

you can have a healthy philly cheesesteak
