Since January 11, 2018, a co-worker and I entered into a workout challenge with the gyms GM. It was actually his idea. He asked me what’s a good amount of days to work out normally. I said 5. He was going to give me a dollar for every workout he missed.
It evolved from there. Other co-workers added their 2 cents and we ended up creating an account in which all persons involved have a scan card to track their workouts. 5 scan ins per week, and for each workout you miss, you owe $5. If you decide to tap out, you have to pay $50. All participants signed and the head of PT signed as a witness.
There are 3 of us participating.... or should I say, there are 3 of us that are supposed to participate. It’s now week 3, and I’ve been consistent, and so has my co-worker. The GM, who is in desperate need of losing weight had only worked out 1 time. He hasn’t given any money for the missed workouts. At this point, he’s in the whole $45. So I’m sure next week we’ll tell him to pay the $50 and tap out.
What’s annoying is that this was all his idea, and his follow through is non-existent. This is not about the money. I watch him expand every year. Someone who literally has the keys to workout and doesn’t do it.... I know there has to be deeper issues going on.
Anyways, I’m killing it with the workouts. I started slow with week one. And upped my workouts week 2, adding 2-a-days. I’m averaging 9 workouts a week. So that’s the plus. I’m just disappointed that the person who needs it the most, isn’t even trying. He brings in his workout bag just about everyday.... for nothing.
I don’t know his rock bottom, but he hasn’t hit it yet.
